上記4個セットを購入して最初に取り替えたのが、2019年。次が2019年。
そして、今回、2025年に残りの2個を取り替えることになりました。場所は1回のリビングと2階の個室。製品の製造年月日は、2018年7月の表記で7年も前です。10年の推奨期間まであと3年しかないことになりますね。
最初は同時に取り付けたのに、それぞれの寿命は10年から17年と幅があったことになります。
This year, even earlier than usual, we noticed the presence of swallows in our garage at the very beginning of April.
And soon after, they began remodeling last year’s nest.
今年は例年より更に早く、４月の頭には我が家の車庫でつばめさんの気配を確認しました。
そして、去年の巣のリフォームを開始。

After that, there weren’t many chances for good snapshots — but finally, I managed to capture a photo when five little chicks peeked their heads out from the nest.
その後はシャッターチャンスがなかなかなく、５羽のヒナが巣からようやく顔を出したところで一枚。
And then, not long after that — trouble struck again this year!
One morning, I discovered that chicks had fallen from the nest.
It seemed that part of the remodeled nest had collapsed.
Out of the five chicks, four had fallen.
それから間もなくです。今年も事件！
ある朝、ヒナが落下しているのを発見しました。どうやらリフォーム部分が崩れ落ちたようです。
５羽中４羽落下。
The swallow couple could do nothing but fly around the nest in distress, or perched frozen in shock.
ご夫婦はなす術もなく巣の周りを飛び回ったり、茫然と立ちすくんだり。
But wait — one chick was still alive in the corner!
でも、待って。隅にいる１羽のヒナさんはまだ生きてる！
Just like last year, we rescued the little one and placed it in a handmade tray nest on the opposite beam.
Would the parents still take care of it, we wondered.

Good news — they seemed concerned about the chick!

On June 11th, both the remaining chick in the original nest and the one we rescued in the tray safely fledged together.

ペーパーバッグは買うと高いので、今回は図書館で借りました。
こういった有名な本は図書館に在庫があって便利。
ストーリーはシンプル、英語も簡単で楽しめました。
