Family and childhood
He was born and raised Izumiku-ku in Sendai-shi. He has a old sister who was named Saya. His father named him after star sign which is Sagittarius. Although his parents wanted him to live simple life, his parents also did him to be dignified, powerful and graceful. His parents didn't only hope that he lives a simple life, but also he would become a person who was adored from the surrounding people. He commuted to the Tohoku High School which both Takeshi Honda and Shizuka Arakawa who are famous Japanese figure skaters also commuted once. And he is a student at Waseda University at present, studying Human Informatics and Cognitive Science.
The career of him
Hanyu was sixteenth when it was happened the earthquake in Tohoku. He practiced skating in Sendai-shi then. When he went out and came back skating rink, there is melted ice in the rink. And then after that people who could skate in the refuge would practice, but there is the situation that there is not ice. It is why he wandered around rinks of each place, but his condition was depressed and he was apt to stay indoors. What encouraged such him was people of classmates participating in National High School Baseball Championship. What laughed such him was cheering of audiences in the Charity Rink.
Achievement of him
He is famous all over the world and has many fans. Why did he become popularity? There were some reasons, but I probably think the most powerful reason is two. First, at the Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final, he set a new world record in the short program and won gold after placing first in both segments. Second, by 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, he became popularity explosively. It is because he became an Olympic champion. He broke his own world record in the men’s short program and he became the only skater to score over 100 in the short program. In addition, he has an interesting character which is attractive and charms others. For example, he likes Winnie-the-Pooh. Therefore he is always harboring its doll before the game.
