We are interested in a student demonstration of Hong Kong reported in recent news. And we checked Hong Kong.
The present conditions
2014 Hong Kong protests began on 26 September. College students and high school students in Hong Kong has become the main. At first, their protest was calm. For example, boycott or sit a long time. But their protest became violent. For example, Occupying of the town. The police were quelled to use the pepper spray and tear gas many times.
The history
Hong Kong is a new city.It was created in 1997. The population of Hong Kong is 700 million people. Area’s extent is 1104㎞2. Is densely populated areas.
Hong kong was one of the cities in China until 1840.But, It was the British territory from 1842 to 1941.This is the impact of the war.Also 100 years.Then, It was Japan territory in 1941-1945.After World War II, It was a British territory again.It is a few decades later.Hong Kong was returned to China.It was in 1997.After that, It to the present.By the way, Do you think one of the country of Hong Kong?Actually, Hong kong is a Chinese city.But, This is a special area.Because, It is the special administrative regions in Chinese government.What do you think the special administrative regions?It is can work the same as the Chinese government.So, I will introduce the special administrative regions.There is the special administrative regions of Hong Kong and two country and city in the world.That is Greenland and Macau. One of the special administrative regions to Hong kong.But, There is a challenge.Hong Kong government and the mainland government is not function well with each other.There is opinion that, “Hong kong is a new area.” in the background.
Why does the independent movement in Hong Kong?
The people in Hong Kong don’t demand independence and seem to appeal for human rights. The expert tells that the people of Hong Kong only demand the democratic government and high self-government.
After Opium War, Hong Kong became the British colony, but it was transferred to the People's Republic of China afterwards and became the first special administrative region under the principle of the one nation, two systems on July 1, 1997.
Therefore Hong Kong has a political system unlike China. The independent machinery of law of Hong Kong functions according to a frame of common law.
In the case of return from the U.K. to the People's Republic of China, the People's Republic of China authorities promised definitely, "they did not change political system after Hong Kong return for 50 years" then.
But, it is caused by the issue of human rights that antipathy for the Chinese government increases. The Hong Kong citizens more than 90% cannot participate in choosing their chiefs now. The reason why it becomes such a system is that they do not let you fix the person who does not comply with will of the Beijing government on the top of Hong Kong. It is only 1,200 election committees on behalf of the economic world or the professional ability group of specialists that Commissioner election is a unique indirect vote and can vote. In comparison with 3,500,000 people registered as a qualified voter, it is extremely few. The Chinese government decided that they performs universal suffrage from 2017, but, actually, the situation is not so strange.
And Akira Liu wave (Liu Xiao baud) who is the Nobel laureate was imprisoned in 2012. Furthermore, democracy activist, Lee one Jan he committed suicide.
Summary
We think that this demonstration is prolonged. Because the human rights of the person of Hong Kong are ignored, there is not this despite democratization. The state politics may be brisk in the present. In this situation China hear only their good partial opinions.And we think that a gear gradually collapses and the government worsens. Therefore the Chinese government must give rights to run for each one in acknowledgment of the human rights of the Hong Konger.
