Lily James "cringes" at the clothes she used to love.
Lily James used to wear "stretchy orange flares".
The Downton Abbey star is known for her gorgeous onscreen costumes and also loves making style statements on the red carpet. She might stun in designer gowns now, but the 25-year-old hasn't always been quite so fashion forward.
"Everything I wore when I was younger was bit cringe," she laughed to the latest edition of British InStyle magazine.
"I had puppy fat and wore unflattering boob tubes, combats and stretchy orange flares."
Lily's life has changed drastically since bagging a part in the hit period drama. She now has to worry about looking camera-ready whenever she leaves the house and admits her agent nudged her to start dressing a "little better".
But there are also plenty of upsides to fame - such as being loaned beautiful dresses for big occasions.
"I never knew until my first film premiere that actresses borrow clothes from designers for the red carpet," she marvelled.
"Being lent an amazing designer dress is like putting on a mask - you feel buttressed and protected by it.
"I loved the dark blue Marni dress I wore at Cannes. It had a studded collar so it felt a bit rock-chick."
With her star on the rise, Lily has started to appear on the cover of magazines. This year she covered Town & Country, wearing a gorgeous white dress and holding on to a horse's reigns. Also read here:www.sheindress.co.uk/bridesmaid-dresses
