story When a museum celebrating the Ku Klux Klan opens in a small South Carolina town, the idealistic Reverend Kennedy resolves to do everything in his power to prevent racial tensions from boiling over. But the members of Kennedy's congregation are shocked to discover that his plan includes sheltering Mike Burden, a Klansman whose relationships with both a single-mother and a high-school friend force him to re-examine his long-held beliefs. After Kennedy helps Mike leave behind his violent past, the Baptist preacher finds himself on a collision course with manipulative KKK leader Tom Griffin. In the face of grave threats to himself and his family, the resolute Kennedy bravely pursues a path toward peace, setting aside his own misgivings in the hopes of healing his wounded community.

10 of my favorites/most memorable, somewhat in order: When: Has a very powerful opening, one of their best songs. I love the version they used to open The Roundhouse Tapes DVD live concert. The original version is from their first album I believe, but the re-done one is improved. Windowpane: From their non-heavy masterpiece Damnation. This song has sent chills down my spine numerous times. Their best "soft" song IMO. Bleak: Love the transitions between super heavy growls to a sweet song back and forth. I even memorized the entire lyrics. The Lotus Eater: One of the most lively/fastest pieces, typical of the Watershed album. Very energetic. Burden: A more pop/rock-ish sentimental song that is also energetic. If I'm not mistaken it is the song liked by the widest audience. There's a Radio Edit but the long version is so much better at showcasing Opeth's prog. The Leper Affinity: Of my all time favorites, pretty heavy but still contains normal voice. The Drapery Falls: First song I ever listened, sent by a friend. At first I was shocked at the changes in pace but got me into the whole prog thing. Second ever song I listened to was Windowpane (above. Face of Melinda: From the Still Life album, all of them are almost as good basically, they're mostly heavy. Really like the lyrics, easy to sing along. Under the Weeping Moon: Another one of the oldest and greatest. Can seem long but the whole piece is awesomely orchestrated. Very powerful/dark use of the interlude. I recommend the live "Roundhouse Tapes" DVD version as well. Demon of the Fall: Many love it, the ending/last part of it is my favorite. Nice growls and heavy riffs. The transitions What made me fall in love with Opeth is how perfectly orchestrated the changes between heavy death metal with growls, and that godly mellow voice and playing. Instruments shaking the mind and making you wanna GO! Then these calm, deep melodies. Nothing seems overdone or too repetitive, perhaps a bit on the most recent albums, where they have gone with a simpler but not necessarily worse approach. Ghost is a (Swedish as well) band which excels at the latter. Honorable Mentions The Lines in My Hand: Best drumming in the Heritage album. Heart in Hand: Single from the newest album In Cauda Venenum to be released in September. Sounds very promising. Reverie/Harlequin Forest: Artsy song and vocals, composed magnificently from start to finish. Ghost of Perdition: Another popular hit from the Ghost Reveries album. Covers: They make awesome versions of songs, go listen to the single song covers from bands such as Alice in Chains. Would. Deep Purple. Soldier of Fortune" and more. I second the recommendation of listening to whole albums (not on shuffle. They have a way of fitting together with a mood or sequence. Nothing wrong with starting with a few individual songs though, they can help guide you to which album to fully listen to first. P. S. Die hard Opeth fans, I'm sorry for any inaccuracies or for not including more from the newest albums. Edit: added album name for Windowpane.

Burden is one of those words that doubles as a noun and a verb. Defined as something you carry or withstand with much difficulty when used as a noun, and as the act of weighing down, overloading, or oppressing when used as a verb, its a word with a negative charge. Now that you know what it means, youre equipped to make sure you dont take on unnecessary burdens (getting pressured into always carrying your neighbors groceries upstairs) or become one yourself.

I just finished watching this film at the Traverse City Film Festival, I absolutely cannot rave enough about this film! the cinematography, the acting, the dialogue, everything is absolutely spot on! It is so intense that you, as the viewer, can feel the struggle that Mike Burden is going through and it just captures you and sucks you right in. especially if you know anything about the backstory on it and what really happened. To be honest this film emotionally drained me, I am literally exhausted from watching it. I would even have to go as far as to giving it 6 out of 5 stars, this is one of those do not miss movies.

I'm a relative newcomer (didn't really get into Opeth until maybe 3-4 years ago) but I'll never forget the first time I listened to this song. I'm not sure exactly how long ago it was, but it was less than a year ago. I hadn't listened to Watershed or Heritage; I think it was due to how disappointed I had been by Pale Communion (which in retrospect is actually pretty good) when it came out, and I hadn't listened to anything after Ghost Reveries for whatever reason. I then decided to listen to the final two albums one day when I was bored. Anyway, this song started playing and it compeletely caught me off guard. Tears welled up, and I'm not at all the kind of person to outwardly express emotion of any intensity. To top it off, the progressively de-tuned acoustic outro fucking killed me. It's not like Opeth hasn't made other emotionally intense material (Still Life certainly comes to mind) but this song left me speechless.

This is a remarkable story of a man's redemption and those who made it possible through courage and love. There are elements, including the name of the central character and an ironic twist that would seem like artifacts of a writer's mind, but they were not- real people, the events that happened to them, and how they chose to respond to those events, provided a story that called out to be told. Writer/director Andrew Heckler does an amazing job telling the story and the cast is terrific.

Just for reference, I completed many things when Forsaken was released and then stepped away from the game until the Season of Opulence. We really don't give Bungie enough credit for the exotic weapons of the 3 black armory houses Izanagi's is specifically detailed to resemble a sword and the sound effects for the exotic perk are of a sheathing sword and strike. Jotunn resembles a hammer so well with its charge and fire effects, when you charge the weapon the flaps extend so it's like you're firing directly from the head of a hammer. Le Monarque looks like a butterfly and the perfect draw sound effect sounds unexpectedly flowery for a bow and arrow.

Lyrics To Bid You Farewell I am awaiting the sunrise Gazing modestly through the coldest morning Once it came you lied Embracing us over autumn's proud treetops I stand motionless In a parade of falling rain Your voice I cannot hear As I am falling again Devotion eludes And in sadness I lumber In my own ashes I am standing without a soul She wept and whispered: I know. We walked into the night Am I to bid you farewell? Why can't you see that I try When every tear I shed Is for you.

Level 1 With all of the paperwork that gets put on teachers I am starting to feel like teaching the kids is secondary to what I am expected to do. The teachers face all of the accountability but have little control. Top that off with student's that curse you out, parents that believe their every lie, and being held responsible for failing students that did no work. Why would an educated adult sign up for that? level 2 Oh yes. Every year I have to gather more "data" document more, file more forms, and on and on. And attend more mandatory PLC meetings, required" extra duty, professional development, blah, blah. Teaching the students is becoming an "oh yeah, you should do that too" level 2 Comment removed by moderator 9 days ago ( More than 1 child) level 2 This! Non-teachers always mention smaller class sizes and more compensation (which yes, both of those would help) but this right here is the real problem. I love teaching and I love getting to work with a build relationships with my students, but too often it feels like that gets put second too all the other crap I have to do. level 2 This is why after ten years teaching at the high school level Im finding something else to do. Thank you. Youve concisely expressed my every frustration. Edit: At times its a very rewarding job and having such an impact on someones life that they choose their future trajectory because of your class is very humbling. But man does it get exhausting. level 2 Constant monitoring of behavior is what gets me. I used to casually make sure kids were on task. Recently I feel like a security camera. Kids get out of control and hurt each other so quickly. level 2 theres places that are making it harder to punish students with any action, and others that do away with any punishment whatsoever then you have students who just do whatever. level 2 My experience in teaching is that even when you're doing a very good job at it, it's very easy to feel like you're failing. Particularly if your students are from a challenging demographic. level 2 This is true of basically every single non-profit field. If you didn't collect data on it it never happened, and every single 'if/when/but/and/only/shall' conditional in the founding legislation and/or programmatic guidance creates a box that has to be ticked, a piece of paper that has to be filed, or an action that has to be done and documented. level 2 Why would an educated adult sign up for that? I'm a second career teacher, my first career being a sports writer for some small town newspapers. The pay isn't great, sure, but I still make almost double as a teacher than I did with the paper. The stress level is much higher obviously, but having a (usually) set schedule has been nice. level 2 And you top all of this up with often extremely low pay that sometimes isnt enough to pay off your student loan payments. This discourages many of our best from becoming teachers, when we need those people since education and good teachers are so very important. level 2 I recently quit my high school teaching position to move to the community college. I dont have nearly as much paperwork and other obligations taking up my time. I have felt stress free and have done some of what I believe to be my best teaching in years. I understand why admin see the benefits from lesson plans, aligning curriculum, PLCs, strict grading policies, and more but it makes teaching difficult and stressful. level 2 Because they believe in the power of education, see it as a path towards bettering society and helping people better themselves, and feel called by those beliefs to make it a career. level 2 Why would an educated adult sign up for that? That's. not a side effect, that is the goal. Purge all thinking adults from teaching professions, poison the unions, make laws to make what is left of them ineffective. you get the idea. Lots of benefits for conservatives, none of the downsides. level 2 Well that pretty much is the case since the standardized tests seem to matter the most. level 2 Exactly. I had to leave it all behind. It was level 2 You should see healthcare. Its less about the patient (time wise) and more about the charting.
