Defeated / 敗れた - Part One

Ok, so I have been going through all of the Moga Village quests in Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (MH3G) on the 3DS in order to get better with using the hammer. In order to improve I did not bring Cha Cha and Kayamba with me on any quest (unless they are mandatory) and I also used the same High Rank equipment set for every quest.


Low Rank quests were very easy as I was using High Rank gear. I also had no problem against High Rank monsters even if they were immune to the fire element, it just took a little longer.


Then came the quest 'Mark of a Hero'.


At first I tried using the same set I had been using, and I ran out of time trying to kill Ivory Lagiacrus. Then each time I attempted the quest I would triple cart. This went on for over a month, I was determined to finish this quest using the same gear that I started with.

Well, I almost gave up playing Monster Hunter. I felt that if I could not clear this quest using this equipment then I was not good enough to play. It was frustrating. I felt like I was doing everything I could and the monsters just were not getting damaged.

I was beaten, but I wanted to see this to the end so I made up my mind that I would change the equipment that I used.

Since I have played 300 hours of MH3U doing Tavern Quests, I have a G Rank hammer set that I really love and it is not too over-powered.


I decided I will get this quest over with once and for all so I begin the quest for probably the sixth try (this happened in June 2014).

I was so upset I admitted defeat and lost interest in Monster Hunter ><
