Some thoughts on tomorrow's game.
I guess it's cliche to say the first game of the season is important, but for us, Kitakyushu, I just have to say it. The first game of the season is important.
In fact this could be one of the most important games in our club's history.
Stay with me for a bit more hyperbole.
We had a bad season in 2016. Our new slogan is RESTART and that we must do. New manager, new stadium, new star players, new look, even a new look website from yesterday (!) - its kind of like a rebirth for Kitakyushu. Tomorrow, with I hear up to 10,000 free tickets available, we should (will) have our biggest attendance ever. We neeeeeeeed a win (or an unbelievable effort to get a win). It will show the people of Kitakyushu, this new Giravanz is a team to really get behind. The free tickets thing feels like a kind of gamble. Win and people will keep coming back and we'll increase our support - lose and people will think it's the old Kitakyushu again.
I don't know how we'll line up tomorrow. But one player I feel is so important right now is our captain, Ikemoto. He may not be the best or most inform player on the pitch, but to me he represents Kitakyushu. He has been with us since the days when we were called New Wave Kitakyushu. He had one year with Matsumoto in J1. Came back the next year and had a disappointing season. This is his year to show the Kitakyushu pride and spirit.
Anyway, lots more going through my head about tomorrow's game but I'll leave it at that.
Thanks for reading my rambling thoughts! Tell me I'm an idiot in the comments if you like!
