Gennady Golovkin will be looking to add the WBA (Super) middleweight title to the IBF and IBO ones he already has when he takes on Ryota Murata this weekend.

Triple G will go down as one of the greatest fighters ever, whether he can still mix it with the best now is up for debate.
Golovkin is the current IBF and IBO middleweight champion, and he can obviously attract the big names, but whether he can beat the likes of Canelo Alvarez, Jermall Charlo or Demetrius Andrade is another matter.
Canelo might not be on his radar at the moment as he has moved up to light heavyweight, but if GGG keeps winning and the money is right, we might get to see this fight for the third time.
GGG cannot think about anyone else apart from WBA (Super) middleweight champion Ryota Murata.
Three belts will be on the line and Golovkin will be determined to wear all three when he gets in the ring at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama City in Japan.
Golovkin has been beaten just once in his career – by Canelo – and has drawn one of his 43 fights – also against Canelo. He has won his last three fights.
He knocked out Steve Rolls in the fourth round in June 2019. He then won a unanimous decision to claim the vacant IBO and IBF belts against Sergiy Derevyanchenko in October of the same year.
His last bout took place at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Florida on December 18th 2020 when he forced Kamil Szeremeta to retire in the seventh round.
His opponent this weekend, only has two defeats on his professional record. He has only had 18 fights compared to GGG’s 43.
The Japanese fighter won the WBA (Regular) middleweight title for the second time in July 2019. He first won it by beating Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam in October 2017 before losing it to Rob Brant 12 months later.
He gained revenge on Brant when he knocked out the American in the second round of their rematch. He was then elevated to WBA (Super) champion after Canelo vacated the belt by moving up in weight class.
There is no doubt that Murata is a quality boxer, but I cannot see him causing many problems for the highly experienced Golovkin.
GGG has won 36 of his 41 wins by way of knockout, but I am not sure he has that punching power anymore. He can clearly outfight and outlast his opponents, but I can see this going the distance with GGG getting his hand raised with a unanimous decision victory.
