マットモンロー
1960年代にイギリスで活躍したバラード歌手である。30年近くの活動期間の間に世界各地でコンサートを開き、レコード総売上枚数は1億枚に上るという。本名はテレンス・エドワード・パーソンズ（Terence Edward Parsons）で、1930年12月1日、ロンドン生まれ。
1960年、「Portrait of My Love」が全英チャート2位に輝き、モンローはスター歌手としての地位を築いた。ヒットの仕掛人はビートルズのプロデューサーとしても知られるジョージ・マーティンである。他のヒット曲としては「Softly As I Leave You」、「ロシアよりを愛をこめて」（『007 危機一発』の主題歌）、「ウォーク・アウェイ」、「野生のエルザ」（原題『Born Free』）、「イエスタデイ」（ビートルズのカバー）、「All of a Sudden」などが挙げられる。モンローの歌声はフランク・シナトラと声質が似ていたので「British Sinatra」（英国のシナトラ）と呼ばれ、世界中の多くのファンを魅了した。
