WADSWORTH McCarthy Sports Inc. has announced that 60 players will compete in the inaugural Collegiate Basketball Invitational at Wadsworth High School April 1921. The invitational is a national basketball event involving the best 60 senior men basketball players from all of National Collegiate Athletic Association Division II and Division III and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. The event consists of six teams of 10 players in a double elimination tournament. Two sessions of two games each will be played in the first two days, and the championship game will be played on the last day at noon. The invitational will conclude with an allstar evening game April 21 in front of a live, ESPNU audience. The race will consist of a 500yard swim, 12 miles on a stationary bike and a 5K run on the outdoor track. Nonmembers will be charged $8. The site includes Aeros statistics, breaking news and player information, along with live scoring updates from all regularseason and playoff games. New to the site this season will be special links that enhance game day experiences, such as the improved photo gallery identifying a fan from each game as the of the Game. Fans can check the Web site after the game to see if they were caught on camera at the game. Information about promotions and updates on schedule changes also will be posted.
SUMMIT COUNTY Season swim passes for lakes at Munroe Falls Metro Park, 521 S. Preseason passes for Summit County residents cost $25 for adults and teens, $10 for children ages 212 and seniors ages 65 and older. The outofcounty rate is $30 and $15, respectively. There is no cost for children younger than 2. After May 26, the rates will increase by $5. 26. During swim season, an admission fee or season pass is required to enter Munroe Falls Metro Park. At Silver Creek, only the beach area requires a daily fee or season pass. Daily admission is $4 for adults and teens and $3 for children ages 212.

NORTHEAST OHIO Otto Orf, championship goalkeeper of the Cleveland Crunch and Force, and his staff, including former professional players, are accepting athletes ages 418 to participate in the 15th year of Hands On Soccer. Twentyone communities in Northeast Ohio including West Akron, Bath, Cuyahoga Falls, Fairlawn and Medina will play host to the summer soccer camps, with both full and halfday options for boys and girls. PENINSULA Cuyahoga Valley National Park Association (CVNPA) third annual Spring Fever Eco Run 2007 will take place May 5 at Boston Mills Ski area, 7100 Riverview Road. This 5mile race and 1mile fun run through the park is open to runners, walkers, families and leashed dogs. Awards will be given in the 5mile race for the top overall female and male finishers and then for the top three finishers in each age group. CLEVELAND The Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon and 10K has established a 501(c)3 charitable organization to raise and distribute funds to other Northeast Ohio nonprofit organizations. Cleveland Marathon Charities will provide funding air jordan australia to nonprofit organizations such as churches, schools and other groups that show their support for health and fitness through active involvement in the race by providing volunteers and spectators, and coordinating their involvement. GREEN The Chapel will host an Ambassadors In Sport (AIS) Soccer Camp July 2428, 2007, at its Green Campus, 1800 Raber Road. and culminate on Saturday in a Cup competition, followed by a picnic and awards ceremony with families and friends. AIS is an international organization designed to give children an opportunity to develop soccer skills in a positive, encouraging Christian environment. DOWNTOWN AKRON The University of Akron Zips football schedule will include five home contests and nonconference road games at Ohio State, Indiana and Connecticut universities this fall. The Zips will open the season Sept. 1, hosting Army in the inaugural Patriot Bowl, played at the Cleveland Browns Stadium and included in the Zips season ticket packages. The Patriot Bowl, organized by the Cleveland Sports Council, will be an annual event played at Browns Stadium and featuring a MidAmerican Conference team and a representative from one of the service academies. After the Patriot Bowl, Akron will play four of its next five games on the road. First, the Zips will play consecutive contests vs. Big 10 members, going to Ohio State Sept. 8 and to Indiana Sept. 15. Akron first contest in the Rubber Bowl will be Sept. 22 in the 49th renewal of the Kent State University series, playing for bragging rights in the 36th Wagon Wheel Game. Akron will step out of league play the following week (Sept. 29), traveling to Storrs, Conn., to face Big East member Connecticut. The Zips then will play MAC opponents the remainder of the season, starting with an Oct. 6 contest at Western Michigan. The University will welcome back its alumni Oct. 13 as the Zips culminate a week of Homecoming activities by hosting Temple. After a week off, Akron will hit the road for games at Buffalo (Oct. 27) and Bowling Green (Nov. 2). Five days after playing at the latter, the Zips will play the first of backtoback Wednesday night contests on ESPN2, hosting defending MAC East champion Ohio Nov. 7 and going to Miami Nov. 14. Akron will close the 2007 regular season by honoring its senior class Nov. 23 and hosting 2006 MAC champion Central Michigan. in the Athletics Field House. The Athletics Department will have a number of activities surrounding the events.
