Match Report presented by Bob's Discount Furniture: Zlatan Ibrahimovic hat trick powers LA Galaxy over LAFC

He promised he would perform in El Trafico on Friday, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic delivered, scoring a hat trick as the LA Galaxy defeated LAFC 3-2 at Dignity Health Sports Park.

The game, the fourth all-time between the Los Angeles teams, maintains LA's unbeaten run (2-0-2) against their new neighbors. The teams will play again on Aug. 25, at Banc of California Stadium.

The game started off with a bang. Carlos Vela drew a penalty from David Bingham in the opening minutes, and converted the spot kick himself in the 4th minute. But Zlatan Ibrahimovichad an answer himself, as he played a sombrero on two LAFC defenders, then blasted home a lob to beat Tyler Miller in the 8th minute to make it 1-1.

From there, the Galaxy controlled the run of play and the game grew increasingly chippy. Ibrahimovic scored his second of the night in the 56th minute, heading in Diego Polenta's cross at the far post to give the home side the lead. He then completed his hat trick by dribbling upfield after a feed from Favio Alvarez and unleashing a low shot from distance to pad the Galaxy's lead.

Vela scored his second goal in the 97th minute, but it was too little, too late as the Galaxy took all three points.

Match Report presented by Bob's Discount Furniture: LA Galaxy fall at home to San Jose Earthquakes

The LA Galaxy tried to take an early lead and batten down the hatches in the back in their California Clasico game against the San Jose Earthquakes on Friday, but the Quakes had the final word, coming back and winning 3-1 at Dignity Health Sports Park.

The win, coming two weeks after the teams' first rivalry game of the season, a 3-0 win for San Jose at Stanford Stadium. During the week leading up to this rematch, both teams had provided considerable bulletin board material for each other in the press.

The Galaxy got started early, as Rolf Feltscher acrobatically poked in a corner kick less than two minutes in to take the lead. But from there, it was nearly all San Jose, as they racked up a staggering edge in shots, 22 to 2, until Vakoscored the equalizer with a low shot from distance nestled inside the post right after the hour mark.

Moments later, Danny Hoesen came off the bench for the Earthquakes and got the go-ahead strike two minutes after entering. Jackson Yueill scored a late insurance goal with a lobbed bomb teed up off a rebounded save.

Match Report presented by Bob's Discount Furniture: Zlatan Ibrahimović's brace lifts LA Galaxy to home win vs. Toronto FC

https://www.lagalaxy.com/post/2019/07/04/match-report-presented-bobs-discount-furniture-zlatan-ibrahimovi-s-brace-lifts-la

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored a pair of late goals, leading the LA Galaxy to a much-needed 2-0 win over Toronto FC Thursday night at Dignity Health Sports Park.

The Galaxy had gone 240 minutes of match action without a goal, their last one coming on June 22 in the 15th minute at FC Cincinnati, when Ibrahimovic struck in the 75th minute. His second goal ensure an end to the Galaxy's three-match home losing streak, and gave them their first MLS win at home since April 28.

Both teams missed golden opportunities to go in front earlier in the game. Marky Delgadomissed an open net in the third minute for TFC. The Galaxy failed twice on the same possession in the 22nd minute when Julian Araujo hit the right post, and the rebound came out to Joe Corona, whose shot was cleared off the goal line.

They didn't get close again until Ibrahimovic missed high with a shot from close range in the 62nd minute. But after that, the Galaxy solved TFC's defense and Ibrahimovic coudn't be contained.

Toronto FC has just one win since May 4.

THREE THINGS
•THE BIG PICTURE: Ibrahimovic broke out of a mini-slump in a big way and has 13 goals this season. The Galaxy might be primed to make some kind of run at first place in the West. Another reason why? They get two key players back from the Gold Cup after Sunday's title game, Jonathan dos Santos and Uriel Antuna. Toronto FC needs Jozy Altidore and Michael Bradley, who will return soon as well. They missed four quality chances to score.

•MOMENT OF THE MATCH: Ibrahimovic, visibly frustrated throughout the match, was in position for a lovely ball from teenager Efrain Alvarez into the box, and he went far post with a header for what was the game winner.

•MAN OF THE MATCH: Emmanuel Boateng made some dangerous runs on the wing and provided energy for much of the match until the Galaxy could finally put one way late. He was key to wearing down Toronto FC's backline to create space later for the goals. Honorable mention for David Bingham and his five saves.

Match Report presented by Bob's Discount Furniture: LA Galaxy fall to San Jose Earthquakes in Cali Clasico

https://www.lagalaxy.com/post/2019/06/29/match-report-presented-bobs-discount-furniture-la-galaxy-fall-san-jose-earthquakes

The San Jose Earthquakes didn’t need any late drama this time. But they poured it on in the final 10 minutes anyway.

In the latest installment of the California Clasico — a series that tends to bring out crazy last-minute game-winners — the Earthquakes led almost the entire way in a convincing 3-0 victory over the LA Galaxy at a sold-out Stanford Stadium on Saturday night.

Vako, fresh off a brace in San Jose’s win over Houston three days earlier, continued his hot form with an 11th-minute goal following a couple of sharp passes off of a cleverly designed free kick.

Shea Salinas, who delivered a stoppage-time winner in the Clasico two years ago, scored in the 82nd minute before Tommy Thompson put the finishing touches on the win with a goal three minutes later to ensure the Quakes would remain unbeaten in their last six.

Earlier, Zlatan Ibahimovic tried to find the equalizer but Judson broke up a pass to deny the Galaxy superstar a scoring chance in the 58th minute, shortly before Daniel Vega made a diving save on a bending Ibrahimovic shot en route to his second straight shutout.
