流祖飯篠長威斎家直先生は、１０２歳で天寿を全うしました。我々の師であり、尊敬する香取神道流師範大竹利典先生は、現在、８６歳で現役です。６２０年前の長威斎先生の姿、剣術をこの目で見ることはできませんが、大竹先生の美しい動きを見ていると想像ができます。とても８６歳の人間業ではありません。
長威斎先生は、香取神宮の経津主大神から香取神道流の技を授かったと伝えられております。確かに人間が創造したとは思えない神技のような技があります。凡人である自分にはとても到達できない技、気合（心）の境地ですが、科学がどんなに進歩しても、医学がどんなに進歩しても、その超人的部分の解明はできないかもしれません。
この世には、エジプト文明やマヤ文明等、古い文明に摩訶不可思議なことが多くあります。上から目線で、現代が最も進んで優れているという奢り、感違いだけは避けたいと思っております。６２０年前の古い剣術に触れ、何か、不思議なものを感じます。それが何であるか未だに分かりません。
The founder has passed away at age of 102. Current master, Mr Risuke Otake, who we respect is 86 years old. We can imagine the sword technique of the founder through current master who is so beautiful in demonstrating the technique. Nobody believe the master is 86 years old.
It is said that the founder was taught Katori Shintoryu by the god of Futsunusi at Katori Shrine. There are so many techniques a human being is not thought to have created in Katori Shintoryu. It may be impossible for us to make clear why such a technique ordinary people like me never do was created, even if science and medical science are very much advanced.
There are so many mysterious things in the world. I do not want to have a pre-conceived notion that contemporary world is the most advanced and superior to ancient one. I feel something mysterious by doing the sword technique of 620 years old. But I do not know what it is yet.
