Magnus once again becomes the focus after the finals of G – League last week. The powerful mid solo Magnus played by 430 in round 2 of the finals shows the world the ability to wipe the opponent side in team fight within 2 seconds. But in previous tournaments, Magnus was always the tank of top lane in the battlefield due to the super far range and escape ability of E and money and XP gaining ability on lane of Q. Now he’s used by iG to play position 2 on mid lane to be team fight initiator (watch the video).

And here’s today’s topic: which do you prefer on Magnus, mid solo or tank on top lane?

DOTA2, Magnus

Mid solo

Magnus can gain money fast when soloing mid lane. So he can equip items that can benefit the team such as Blink Dagger and Mekansm earlier, gank and initiate team fight. Besides, Magnus is hard to kill in team fight when with items. He has both control skill and DPS.

The power of Magnus in team fight is obvious. And Blink Dagger to him is as important as that to Mangix and Batrider. Apart from that, the pace of current version is fast and team fight starts early. So the sooner Magnus equips Blink Dagger, the more beneficial it will be to allied team fight. Besides, the strength growth of high level Magnus can be very imbalanced, So Magnus fits mid solo or other lanes solo better.

Tank on top lane

Skill advantages of Magnus are obvious regarding the position 3 on top lane which is hard to play. Besides, he actually doesn’t need items and a Blink Dagger is enough to determine the result of team fight. Even though without the Blink Dagger, he can also use E to enter the battlefield and counter. His E can play the same role as Blink Dagger. Magnus’s ability on top lane is absolutely among the top in current version. Moreover, mid solo Magnus can still be suppressed by some champions. It’s better to play tank on top lane and let others to farm rather than play mid solo who doesn’t always equip Blink Dagger fast.

Of course, it is determined by the lineup of the team on whether to play mid solo lane or tank on top lane. How do you think?
