スウェーデンボルグは、一つの新しい真理を書かなかったのである。何故なら、彼は、まったく宗教的な天使たちと会話して、宗教を憎む悪魔たちとは会話しな かったからである。というのは、彼は、自分の自惚れた考えによって、無能であったからである。彼の著作は、あるゆるっ皮相な考えの再現であり、より崇高な ことの分析である。
機械的な才能の持ち主なら、誰でも、スウェーデンボルグの著作と同等の一万巻の著書を、パラケルススやヤコブ・ベーメの著作から生み出すことができるだろ う。しかし、これをしても、そうした者に、彼のマスターより、知っているお言わせてはいけない。というのは、彼は、日中ロウソクをつけているだけだから だ。
記憶すべきファンシー
一度、私は火炎に包まれた一人の悪魔が、雲の上に座っている一人の天使の前に立ち上がるのを見た。悪魔は次の言葉を言った。神を崇拝するとは、他の人の才能(gifts)を尊ぶこと、各々の人の天賦の才（genius）に従って、各々の人を尊敬することである。
