LA is absolutely my favorite place in the world.
I would literally spend my entire life living there if it’s possible.
Here are some reasons why LA is so special…
1) Weather
2) Beautiful scenery
私の世界で一番好きな場所！ＬA。一生涯をここで過ごしたいと思える場所。
その理由は二つ。
1）天気
2）景色
The weather in LA is perfect. No doubt. It’s not too hot or cold, not too humid or dry, it doesn’t rain much, nor snow. There might be better place out in the world, but so far according to what I’ve experienced, LA has the best weather.
Through a year, it’s pretty warm at noon even in the winter. And in summer it gets very hot at noon, but if you go in a shade, you don’t really feel hot that much because the air is dry and not humid. Also in winter, of course it’s cold in winter, but compare to Japan it’s much warmer and you just need a coat at night and that’s pretty much all you need.
ＬAの天気は本当に最高！暑過ぎず、寒過ぎず、ムシムシし過ぎている訳でもなく、乾燥し過ぎている訳でもない・・・しかも、雪は勿論、雨もそんなに降らない。もしかしたら天気だけに特化するとＬAより良い場所があるよって言われるかもしれないが、私が旅した中ではダントツで1位の心地よさだ。一年を通しても、冬でも日中はとても暖かい。夏が暑いのは当たり前だが、ＬAは陰に入ると涼しい。きっと空気が乾燥しているせいだろう。冬も寒いのは寒いが、日本（東京）と比べると相当暖かい。日中は薄い羽織が一枚・・程度で歩いている人も多いし、夜もコートが一枚あれば十分なくらいだ。
The scenery in LA is amazing! First of all, there aren’t many skyscrapers that cover the sky. It is true that there are many of them in Downtown area, but besides that area, you can enjoy the widely opened beautiful blue sky in LA, especially if you go to the beach area such as Malibu to Huntington Beach. Also, perhaps you might have seen it in some pictures before, but there are many palm tree frames in if you look up in the sky.
Obviously, there are MORE reasons than I listed in here, but I’d like to tell them little by little through our blog.
景色も最高なＬA。一番の理由は、高い建物が少ない事だろう。勿論ダウンタウンに行くと、背の高井ビルばかりだが、そこを除けば、ほとんどのエリアで青く開けた空が広がっている。この開放感はたまらない。マリブからハンティントンビーチあたりにのびるビーチエリアは特に開放感溢れ、この開けた空を仰ぐ事ができる。ポストカードなどでよく見ているかもしれないが、空を仰ぐと道路脇に聳えるヤシの木が自分の視界にフレームインしてくる感じが何とも言えない。
ＬAの魅力なんて、あり過ぎてこんな1コラムには書ききれない・・・なので少しずつこのサイトで紹介していけたらいいなと思う。
So for today, I’d love to introduce some my favorite restaurants in LA area (some of them are out of LA, but it should be close enough.)
Well, I should make a note about transportation in LA first…that you need to drive all over in LA, yes, you need a car to enjoy this place.
LA is the typical American motorized society. Each area is so apart, so you need to get a car to visit anywhere in LA.
とりあえず今回は、第一弾として、私のお気に入りの“美味しいトコロ”を紹介したいと思う。（ＬA市街の場所もあるが、行ける範囲なので紹介したいと思う。）→この事だが、ＬAの移動手段についてコメントをしておきたい。アメリカ内でも特にＬAは典型的なアメリカの車社会で、ＬA内はどこを行くにも車が要る。全てのエリアが離れているので、旅行の場合はレンタカーを借りる事をオススメする。勿論無くても観光は出来るが、目一杯楽しみたいのなら、車はマストだ。

それでは今回のオススメたちを紹介！
Urth Caffe
recently opened in Daikanyama, Tokyo (I’ll report about this one later) but the menu is bit different and the taste is a lot different.
最近、東京の代官山にもオープンしたアースカフェ。（近々こちらのレポもアップする予定！）しかし、メニューも少し違うし、味は断然違う！ので是非ＬAに行ったら訪れてほしいスポット。
My personal favorite is ‘Grilled Chicken w/ Pesto Salad’. Their organic vegetables are very fresh, and dressing matches very well. Also, Lasagna is very good as they use fresh pasta with ricotta and mozzarella cheese, mushrooms, zucchini, and eggplant served with mixed greens salad, fresh baked bread and butter. Sounds good huh? One more recommendation is ‘Nori Plum Rice Wrap’. Me and my friend call it a vegetarian sushi roll, because they look like a huge sushi roll stuffed with avocado, organic brown rice, carrots, broccoli, green onions, plum paste, and tofu. And of course you have to try boba tea!
個人的には’Grilled Chicken w/ Pesto Salad’というメニューがお勧め。使用される全ての野菜はオーガニックで、（近年ＬAではオーガニック文化が大ブーム！）特にサラダに使用されている野菜はフレッシュで、ドレッシングととても相性がいい！また、ラザニアも人気で、リコッタチーズや、モッツァレラ、そしてオーガニックの野菜と豆腐を使ったベジタリアンのラザニアは是非トライすべきメニュー！特に、日本のアースカフェには無いメニューなのでご賞味あれ！あとは、’Nori Plum Rice Wrap’という巻き寿司をイメージしたベジタリアンのロールも美味。ブラウンライスを海苔で巻き、ネタはアボカドと人参、ブロッコリー、豆腐などなどとてもヘルシーだがボリューム満点のユニークメニューもある。おグリーンティーベベロとボバ（タピオカ）も忘れずに！

There is Elite model office next to this cafe, so you bump into good looking models sometimes:))この店舗は近くにエリートモデルの事務所があるので、しばしばモデルに遭遇することもある！

Urth Caffé – Santa Monica / Located at 2327 Main Street, (310) 314-7040, between Pico and Ocean Park, in the heart of Santa Monica’s famous shopping district just a few blocks from the ocean.
Urth Caff Downtown / Located at 451 South Hewitt Street, (213) 797-4534, on Hewitt and 5th, in the Arts District of Downtown Los Angeles.
Gypsy’s
the best Mediterranean restaurant in Long Beach. Believe it or not, this is the best Mediterranean restaurant I’ve ever been to.
勿論食べ物の好みに個人差があるのは大前提だが、この地中海レストランは私が行った中で、世界一美味しい地中海レストランだと思う。
You need a car to visit this place, but it’s located in very nice place with an ocean view. Gypsy’s is casual and cozy type of restaurant, and you can bring your alcohols in. My recommendation at this restaurant is Organic Chicken Kabob which comes with Persian style basmati saffron rice, yogurt dip, and Tabouleh. I believe this plate is easy try for those people who are not huge fun of Mediterranean too:9!
ここを訪れるには車が要るが、立地もとてもよく、店のすぐ近くには海がある。とてもカジュアルで雰囲気溢れる、こじんまりとしたレストランだが、お酒を持ち込めるなどとてもフランクなお店だ。私の個人的なお勧めは、オーガニックチキンケバブ。サフランライスとヨーグルトソースとタブーリ（パセリのサラダ）と一緒にプレートになってサーブされる。サラダは３つのチョイスがあるし、地中海料理が苦手な人にもお勧めが出来るメニューだ。

IN-N-OUT BURGER
could be way too famous, but it’s the best burger shop in West Coast. They opened their first store in CA in 1948. Their food is very simple, but they do old-fashioned way which makes burgers (and fries!) so gooood. If you are in California, this is the ‘must-go’ place.
このサイトでお店を紹介する上で、他の旅行本には載っていないローカルな場所を紹介したいという理念があったのだが、もしかするとインアンドアウトバーガーは、あまりにも有名になってしまったかもしれない。ただ、カリフォルニア発のこのバーガーショップは是非一回は経験しておくべき。1948年にスタートしたこのショップは、支持者からは西海岸で一番のバーガーショップと言われている。西のIN-N-OUT、東のSHAKE SHACKだ。メニューも作り方も、はたまた味においてもとてもシンプル且つオールドファッション。通い始めるとどうやら癖になってしまうこの味は経験しておいて損はしないだろう。
