If you're already in your attacker's grasp, this option is probably not available to you, as you'll have to fight back physically to get out of your attacker's reach before you can get away.
The third possible option is a trickier tactic, as it takes both the right temperament and the right situation. Known as 'posture,' it can also be described as 'intimidation.' The key is to come back at your assailant with the right attitude. Make them believe that they don't want to mess with you, because they will end up physically harmed in the process. An example of this would be pulling out your stun gun, letting the electricity crackle. An attacker who doesn't want to be stunned will turn and run. This can be very effective, so long as you have confidence.
Freeze is very simple: you simply do nothing. The logic behind the maneuver to ‘freeze’ is that usually any kind of action, such as trying to fight back, could result in further danger as the assailant works harder to subdue you. The downside to this is that you have no idea what the attacker is planning. Not fighting back could mean physical or sexual assault or even death.
However, if all they're after is your wallet, you may be better off submitting to them than trying to fight back. 'Submit' is the final defense strategy. In the effort of trying to avert possible harm, simply do exactly what the assailant asks. While it saves you from possible harm, you lose other valuable thing. Even worse, after the assailant has captured the valuables desired, the truth is you’re still in danger. Statistically, most victims of a violent attack who submit to their attacker's demands will end up physically hurt in some manner.
These are your options. Weigh them carefully. Remember them well. When the time comes and you’re faced with danger, it’ll be up to you to decide how to act.
