I didn’t fut coins want to like Bob Crow but I did. Listening to him took me back to my childhood in Newcastle where all the men in my Da’s working men’s club were just like him. I felt at home with him in that office with all his passion and bluster and pretend anger.
And while I’ve cursed him, while I’ve spat nails listening to his warring rhetoric, the truth is if my job was under threat I’d want Bob Crow to fight for it. I’d want him in my corner.
Yes, for him, there’s only ever one way HIS way. And yes, his intransigence may sometimes have damaged the trade unions’ image. But the fact is what Bob Crow wants for his members he gets!
