In other Fut Coins SOCOM news, gamers expecting to enter Fifa coins Slant Six's open multiplayer beta were in for a rude awakening this week, when the previously announced testing period failed to initiate. As related via the developer's site, that open beta window has officially been pushed back a few days, and will now begin for preorderers on September 5, with Qore subscribers furloughed until a week later. Slant Six notes that the delay won't shorten the testing period, as it is now expected to run through October 5.
As noted by the publisher, "G.L.O.W. marks the first time a band has recorded a new song exclusively for the franchise, which will be released afterwards." The song will headline a three-song pack that also includes "1979" and "The Everlasting Gaze," and will be released as downloadable content after World Tour hits store shelves. The publisher also said that lead singer Billy Corgan will join other rock icons such as Ozzy Osbourne and Jimi Hendrix as a playable in-game character. Corgan's in-game presence will be accompanied by the Billboard-charting hit "Today," off of the band's 1993 album Siamese Dream. Guitar Hero World Tour will also benefit from a trio of rock staples from days gone by, as MC5's Wayne Kramer, Motorhead, and The Sex Pistols have also been signed on to lend rerecorded hits from their respective libraries. From MC5 comes "Kick Out the Jams," a seminal punk rock anthem originally performed in 1968. For the rerecording, Kramer was joined by Jerry Cantrell of Alice and Chains and Gilby Clark, formerly of Guns 'N Roses.
