David Barry FiFa 14 coins pedalled a submarine at a speed of 3.6 metres per second to take home goldat the inaugural Europeaninternational submarine races between 25 and 29 June, 2012.
Barry was piloting the Omer 8 submarine, built by the école deTechnologie Supérieure, from Montréal, Québec when he smashed theworld speed record for human-powered submarines, beating theprevious time set at the American submarine races in 2011.
As each submarine is human-powered, they need to be piloted in person by a member of the team lying face down in aprone position, pedalng, while wearing Scuba gear.
