プロデューサーはKanye West―
Kanye Westは、Curtis Mayfield率いるThe Impressionsの"人類の愛と平和を願うメッセージ"がこめられた名曲「People Get Ready」(1965年)をサンプリングしている。
この名曲が作られた時期には―1963年8月28日に行われた公民権確立を目指して計画されたワシントン大行進、そして、リンカーン記念公園でのMartin Luther King牧師の演説"I Have a Dream"があり、このことにインスパイアされて書き上げた曲が「People Get Ready」である。 「People Get Ready」は、アメリカ大統領選挙で日々耳にしたように数々のアーティストにカバーされる(有名どころでは、Bob Marleyの「One Love / People Get Ready」で歌詞が引用されている。)、多くの人から愛され続ける普遍のナンバーである。
この普遍的なナンバーをパーフェクトなピッチでサンプリングした涙腺を刺激するビートの上で、The Gameは
綴る。 その内容は、自身のハートを動かしたリアル・ストーリーであり若かれし頃の経験・思い出が目に浮かぶ巧みなストーリーテリングである。
The Gameは、過去にもCurtis Mayfieldの楽曲をサンプリングした作品をリリースしている。
その曲は、アルバム「LAX」収録曲である「Touchdown」であり、Eric B & Rakimの「Technique(Bootleg Remix)」やGang Starrの「Taje A Rest」などでもサンプリングされたメローグループが気持ちよい「Right on for the Darkness」(1974)を用いている。 Curtis Mayfieldの楽曲は、Hip Hop以外でも「You're So Good To Me」をサンプリングしたMary J.Bligeの「Be Happy」や「Let's Do It Again」をサンプリングしたJohn Legendの「Number One」のようにR&Bでも多く用いられており、彼の音楽DNAは今も世界中に拡散している。
しかし、「People Get Ready」は、あまりにも偉大な楽曲のためかHip Hopにてサンプリングされた記憶はない。

2009年末にリリースを予定しているアルバム「The R.E.D. Album」のリリースが楽しみである。
