Let me tell you about this article published last week in Yahoo France. Actually it deals with Japan's last figures concerning carbon dioxide emissions.

Between March 2007 and April 2008, Japan relaesed 1,37 billion tons of Carbon Dioxideビックリマーク

Compared to 2006, its CO2 emissions increased by 2,3%ビックリマーク

Indeed after a violent earthquacke in July 2007, the biggest nuclear central Kashiwazaki Kariwa has been closed. So the nuclear production decreased while the CO2 emissions increased.

Thus Japan won't be able to respect its commitment to reduce greenhouse

gazes emissions by 6% compared to the year 1990 for the 2008-2012 period, as it has been established

in the Kyoto Protocol...。(´д`lll)

Consequently Japan has to buy carbon emission reduction credits and is now negotiating with Hungary and Czech Republic about this issue.

If you need some fresh air and greenery, go is the Takao San ビックリマーク

It is a popular day trip in the hilly Western reaches of Tokyo-to.

I've been there last weekend with my friends and I enjoyed it very much ラブラブ! As it is the beginning of the koyo season (or almost べーっだ! we have been able to see a few red automn leaves.

The place was crowded, even little children were hiking to the top, as it is known to be being relatively easy. Actually there were 6 different trails; the most frequented one is well-paved while other routes are rougher paths through real nature and away from the crowds.

Half the way, we stoped at the Yakuo-in Temple which is knpwn to look like the Nikko Toshogu Shrine with its "red, blue and green wood-carving representing dragons, foxes and humans"

And at the top, we bought a cup of sake and enjoyed the view...

AmaZiNg ショック! Isn't it!?

Two weeks ago was the Health Ingredients and the Safety & Technology Japan 2008 held for three days from October 15th to October 17th in Tokyo Big Sight!!

Actually Hi Japan is the leading exhibition in Asia where the health foods market continue to extend: over 585 exhibitors from almost 20 countries met with more than 40,000 industry professionals In parallel the S-tec Japan exhibition also took place at the same time as the only exhibition for food safety and quality control in Japan.

Ashida san and I joined the Marketing team one afternoon in euglena's booth and then we went with Teramura san to visit Api Co. and Nihon Tablet Co. booths, both partners of euglena Co.

After that we decided to finish our tour of the exhibition and it was quite interesting to know more about Astaxanthin, this colourful pigment that can be found in microalgae, yeast, salmon and shrimp. It is a powerful antioxidant that is used for humans as a supplement. More interesting is that research showed that "due to astaxanthin's potent antioxidant activity, it may be beneficial in cardiovascular, immune, inflammatory and neurodegenerative diseases" (^^)

Teramura san and Ashida san made great efforts (-^^-) to explain to me everything about Astaxanthin and also Spirulina (If you want to know more about it, you can read my previous article about Spirulina) and i would like to thank them for that (^-^)/

While I am working in euglena Co., I learn everyday a bit more about supplements, especially those that are made from algae. And It has been a few weeks that I am reading researches, studies and testimonies about a special algae called...Spirulina!

Spirulina is a Green-Blue algae that contains vitamins

(A,B12,E...), minerals (Magnesium, Calcium, Iron..) and 50% to

70% of proteins!!!

Today It is considered as one of the new solutions against malnutrition. Indeed, It has been proved that 1g to 3g of Spirulina taken for 5 to 6 weeks can cure a child suffering from malnutrition !!

Nowadays more than 3000 tons are produced but by 2020, according to BioNat.net, worldwide Spirulina production is expected to reach 220,000 tonsビックリマーク

And you knw what? Tha most avid believers in the health of Spirulina are the Japaneseべーっだ! who both produce and consume more than anyone else !!
