NBC has elected not to reelect its presidential comedy, "1600 Penn." Additionally, a person with knowledge of the decision confirmed that "Whitney" has also been canceled.
"1600 Penn's" executive producer Jon Lovett tweeted the news on Thursday. "It's official. 1600 Penn is a cult classic," he wrote.
A spokesperson for its studio, 20th Century Fox, officially confirmed "1600 Penn's" cancelation to TheWrap, as well.
The freshman comedy about a blended First Family living in the White House hit a series low with its finale in late-March. Earning a .7 rating/2 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and only 1.9 million total viewers. It starred Bill Pullman ("Independence Day," "While You Were Sleeping"), Josh Gad ("The Book of Mormon," "21"), and Jenna Elfman ("Dharma and Greg").
Sophomore comedy "Whitney" was a star vehicle for comedian Whitney Cummings. Its March 27th episode earned a 1.0/3 in the key 18-49 demo and 2.88 million total viewers.
Produced by Universal and Bluegrass Television, "Whitney" also starred Chris D'Elia.
