Tiny immunized home cats and dogs are allowed to travel in the cockpit with you under the seat in front of you on Southwest Airlines. All cats must be handled in one of the cages listed beneath.
On international flights or any itinerary that involves an overseas travel, pets are not authorized to fly in the class.
when capacity is met, pets will be allowed on a from a first, next basis. A max of 6 pets are allowed per plane, with one pet carrier permitted per paying Customer going on the same flight. However, conditions may allow for more (or less) than six (6) pet carriers per planned trip from period to period.
Travelers can acquire their valid ticket online, at curbside check-in, at the airport terminal, or at the ticket office. Pets must be verified in at the airport ticket counter.
A pet's boarding privileges may be canceled if it shows misbehavior. Disruptive conduct can include (but is not limited to) the accompanying:
Stroking, whining, or barking incessantly
Biting, snarling, and lunging
In the house or gateway area, urinating or pooping
Pet Cages in the Cabin
For $58 (tax inclusive), get your authorized Southwest Airlines pet carrier at any Southwest Airport Ticket Office or online (tax not included) at Southwest: The Store (not an affiliate of Southwest Airlines Co.). There are no refunds on pet crates.
Requirements for Pet Carriage
Southwest Airlines allows only one pet carrier per ticketed Passenger.
The carrier may contain two (2) cats or dogs and must be of the same species per carrier.
The cat or dog must be entirely contained within the pet carrier and must be able to stand and move freely within it.

Note: Pet carriers fall into one of two categories: personal items or carry-on luggage. A traveler may take either a pet carrier and a personal item or a pet carrier and a regular carry-on Southwest Pet reservations bag onto the plane. A pet carrier, a standard size carryon bag, and a personal item are not permitted on board the airplane. The pet carrier must adhere to all carryon baggage regulations.
Restrictions on Pet Travel
Southwest Airlines does not accept pets (cats or dogs) traveling without a Customer.
Unaccompanied Traveling with pets is not permitted for minors.
Pets are not permitted to fly in the cabin on international flights or on any itinerary that includes an international trip.
There will be a maximum of six (6) pet carriers per trip.
However, from time to time, circumstances may allow for more (or fewer) than six (6) pet carriers per scheduled flight.
Cats and dogs must be at least eight (8) weeks old to travel.
A pet may not share a carrier with a trained service animal
In the event of an emergency, the cat or dog may not have access to an oxygen mask
Southwest Airlines disclaims any responsibility for the health and safety of carry-on pets
Considerations for Traveling with Pets
Customers will be required to pass through security with their dogs and walk through the screening device while the carrier is x-rayed.
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA), other airport security agencies, and airline workers all have the right to search all pet containers.
