Repeat after me, "I will memorize my English lines!"
Think of what actors and actresses have to do
to prepare for a movie.
They have to constantly memorize their lines in advance.
When the audience finally sees the movie,
it sounds so natural and spontaneous,
but we all know it isn't.
All the acting and dialogue was prepared
and rehearsed beforehand, right?
Think of doing this yourself.
You are an actor memorizing your lines to an English movie.
Most conversations are very predictable.
You can usually predict
what questions will be asked and
therefore, you can prepare your answers in advance.
You can edit as you go,
as you learn more vocabulary and become more fluent.
First you need to LISTEN to a lot of English.
Listen to various dialogues.
Listen to how other people answer these questions.
Keep these questions
and your prepared answers in a journal or notebook.
Keep rehearsing "your lines," just like an actor does.
Here's an example:
So, what was the best thing about living in LA?
Possible Answers:
The best thing, by far, was the food!
I knew LA was an international city but for some reason,
I just thought
American food was the same everywhere you went.
I didn't expect there to be so many great restaurants
- in Little Tokyo, Koreatown, Little Armenia -
I had a favorite restaurant in every part of the city.
It was fantastic.
The weather!
In December, I was still wearing a tee-shirt,
shorts and flip-flops!
I definitely wouldn't mind living in a city like that...
Every skill is interrelated.
The more you LISTEN, the more you SPEAK.
The more you READ and WRITE,
the better you LISTEN and SPEAK.
Study English with a passion! Make each day count!
The clock is ticking...
