the color of burnt bread's crust-

bread's crust such as Okinawa being cut off

depending on time

From "Mimi Futahira" written by Yuriko Matsumura

*****************************************

Obviously, crust of bread is a part of bread. What crust differs from the inside is just the color and the consistency.Because of such differences, therefore, crust is likely to be cut off for any purpose.

The author felt that crust of bread is similar to Okinawa which has been sacrificed for the main island of Japan. In my opinion, this tanka is expressed the instability of human mind, and makes us be aware that Okinawa belongs to us all,Japanese.
B side

of the summer holiday

from when done the travel

Original is written by Madoka Mayuzumi

***************************************************

B side is the reverse of the disc, usually recorded the second song.In this Haiku,B side means the reverse side of the summer holiday.

The author felt as she was in B side after her travel.I suppose that she experienced something special in her travel, and sensed that the rest of her holiday was trifles,or her life had been completely changed.

Late summer tends to make people sentimental. It can be a prologue of a scenario in the autumn.

kimono for blossoms viewing

original is written by Hisajo Sugita

*************************************************************

Blossoms viewing is a typical event of spring for Japanese.Nowadays, rarely is kimono worn in daily life, and it makes women escape from reality. The woman who wrote this haiku had just come back from blossoms viewing as well as taken off her kimono. As kimono requires several cords, after undressing, people can see them around. In addition, cords are generally colourful. While looking at cords, she who was in a dream had just synchronized such cords and her real life,so that, she regarded those cords as circumstances of her.

It is expressed both floweriness and fatigue of her life with 'various cords'.

Masajo suzuki was born in Chiba as the third daughter of a long-established hotel.Although she married when she was 22 years old,she divorced after years.

As 28 years old,she remarriged with her brother-in-law whose wife died due to succeed her hotel. However,as she fell in love with a navy man,she eventually eloped with him.She was 31 years old as of that time.

She said that she had never regretted.Still she added:"Married women can never be happy while falling in love with another. When I wrap me in gossamer,I always remember that our immoral love."This haiku bellow was born with this love.
