青=名詞、赤=動詞、水色=目的語
The government of South Africa says (that) the World Cup soccer tournament this year brought foreign tourist
spending of more than 500 million dollars to the country.
Step.1 隠れたThatを見つける
動詞sayは自動詞にも他動詞にもなれるが、ここでは他動詞として使われている。
他動詞は後ろには目的語になる名詞が必要。
その事から名詞節を導く接続詞であるthatが隠れている(省略されている)事が分かる。
※このようにthatは省略される事が多い
そしてthat以下は名詞として目的語になる。

↓並び替えて

broughtはbring(持ってくる、もたらす)の過去形で他動詞です。
他動詞⇒後ろに名詞が必要
自動詞⇒後ろに名詞がきちゃダメ！
※broughtの後ろのoverは副詞で動詞を修飾しています。なのでbrought overでひとつの動詞とも考えられる。

The government of South Africa says the World Cup soccer tournament this year brought foreign tourist spending of more than 500 million dollars to the country.
South Africa hosted the month-long event in June and July, becoming the first-ever African nation to host the competition.
The government says the event attracted nearly 310,000 foreign tourists and that their spending totaled 3.6 billion rand, or more than 500 million dollars. Most visitors were from other African countries and Europe.
The government says it hopes the tournament's success will help bring even more tourists to the country over the next few years.
But the 10 stadiums that were built or renovated for the tournament will require huge maintenance costs.
Some people are demanding that the stadiums be torn down.
