2010年6月13日に実施された実用英語技能検定（英検）3級の一次試験の問題です。

答えは、4のoversleepです。

「ジョン、もう寝たほうがいいわよ。おそくまで起きていると、寝過して、学校に遅れるわよ」
B : OK, Mom.
「わかったよ、お母さん」
1のgraduateは、「卒業する」。2のpromiseは、「約束する」。 3のreturnは「戻る」という意味です。
それぞれの意味から考えると、「寝過す」という意味のoversleepが適当ですね。
