引き取り手がなかった「モナ・リザ」の絵画
Nobody accepted the painting of "Mona Lisa"
１．神秘的にほほえむ 貴婦人モナ・リザは、幸せなのか、それとも不幸せなのか、
うれしいのか、それとも悲しいのか。
Is Lady Mona Lisa, with her misterious smile, happy or unhappy, glad or sad ?
２．この謎めいた微笑が多くの人の心をひいてきた。
This mysterious smile has attracted many people.
３．この肖像画は、イタリア、フイレンツエの裕福なフランチェスコ・デル・ジョコンドという人が、フィレンチェに滞在中にレオナルド・ダ・ヴィンチ（１４５２～１５１９）に、自慢の妻を描かせたものだった。
A wealthy man named Francesco del Giocondo from Firenze, Italy, had asked Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519)who was in Florence at that time, to draw the portrait of his wife who was his pride and joy.
(wealthy = 〔形〕裕福な、金持ちの〔richの婉曲語としてよく使われる〕）
４．当時は、ルネサンスの最盛期で、、フィレンチェでは、町の名士たちが、社会的地位 を誇示するため、自分や家族の肖像画を描かせることがはやっていた。
The Renaissance was at its height, and back then in Florence, it was a trend among the
town celebrities to have portraits of themselves ot their families drawn by artists.

５．ジョコンドは、妻がより美しく描かれることを望んでいた。
Jokondo wanted his wife to be drawn even more beautifully.

６． しかし、モデルにとって、長時間ポーズをとっていることは、つらいことだった。
However, it was tough to pose as a model for a long time.
７．モナ・リザの悲しそうな、ふくれ顔を直そうと、ダ・ヴィンチは苦心した。
Da Vinci had a hard time improving Mona Lisa's sad and pouty face.

８． ポーズの期間は、１５０３年から4年間で、夫人が２７歳前後の頃のこと
だった。
The duration of the pose was four years from 1503, while she was around 27 years of age.
9. 当時、夫人は子供を失い、悲嘆にくれていたので、彼女の不思議な言いようも
ない表情が生まれたのも無理もないことだった。
At the time, she had lost her child and was grieving, so it was no wonder she had a strange and indescribable look.

10. 結局、フランチェスコ・デル・ジョコンドは、この絵が気に入らす、受け取ることを
拒んだ。
Eventually, Francesco del Giocondo did not like this painting and refused to accept it.
11, しばらく、この絵は、ダ・ヴィンチの手元にあったが、フランスのフランソワ１世に 招かれた時、それを持って行き、買ってもらって、フオテンブロー城に貯蔵された そうです。
For a while, this painting was in the hands of Da Vinci, but when he was invited by Francois I of France, he took it with him and had the King buy it , then it is said to have been stored in Chateau Huotembro.

「モナリザ」が１９１１年に盗難され、１９１３年に発見されたときの時価が
１６億３０００万ドルとありました。物価は１０００倍になったと考えると現在の価値は
１兆６３００億ドル＝１９７兆２３００億円 ってところですかね。
