Food crisis
Now, one in nine people starves all over the world.
UN reported that food is produced is enough for people in the world to eat. In addition, the amount of required food is increasing with the growth of population and the productions of grain, for example, rice, wheat and corn are increasing too. Why are there starving people?
When people in some country caｎ’t Delete farm products sufficiently because of unusual weather, they have to import food. As imports are expensive, it is difficult to buy them. So, 805 million people suffer from starvation.
In Japan, 8.4 million ton of food is consumed and 1.7 million ton is thrown away per year. From five to eight million ton edible food is included. It is leftover and food over shelf life.
Effects
World population had reached seven billion and it is expected that
world population will reach nine billion in 2050.Growth in demand by
population growth and decrease in supply industrialization and
environmental destruction will cause more serious problem.
Food shortage affects society as a whole that consume food.
In particular ,staple food crop like potato and grain run short or price increase ,we human's life becomes painful, because staple food crop is
source of our energy activities. But UN agencies say enough food is
produced all over the world. Well, why is food shortage concerned? There
are some reasons.
First, some country produce enough food, on the other hand, some country
can't, because abnormal weather by global warming. Second, cereals
consumption as the feed increased, in the back ground, Edible meat is
increasing all over the world. It causes lack of cereals as the food.
Third, of a part crop is used for fuel. Corn is raw materials of bio
energy. It is also reason of lack of crops.
Solutions
There is three solution of the food problem in the world.
First it is how to use a plant factory. A plant factory is an institution which completes indoors the environment which was artificially suitable for cultivation, and produces agricultural products stably, efficiently, and intentionally.
Second it is how to use a genetically modified food. Crop strong against dryness are developed by using gene modification technology. Then Crops can be grown in the country which dried that unsuitable for agriculture.
In fact, the food in the world is enough. But many people suffered from hunger in the world.
So the most important thing is distributing the food in the world, it is distributing food to hungry people. Japan, an advanced country has to consider a food problem.
