So, after waiting a year for Golden week, it has already come to a close. Was it worth the wait? Was it really that golden? Did it have that Midas touch? I guess it depends on where you went, and what you did. Those of you that stayed in Tokyo for the duration might have been let down by Mother Nature. It seems that she was in a bad mood and punished us with gloomy weather. What did we do to deserve this? Did we forget to clean our rooms? Did we neglect to do our homework? Did we talk with our mouths full? Unfortunately, we can only speculate on this, but I'm sure we can all agree that weather-wise it was more blue than golden. It seems that not only were Japanese people on vacation, but Rumpelstiltskin was out of the office as well.
In Canada, if we encounter such miserable weather during the holidays, you'll often hear someone quip, 'Let's make the most of it'. What this essentially means is that given the circumstances, you should still try to enjoy it as much as possible. Instead of going to parks and beaches, why not enjoy indoor activities with family and friends. Because if we really think about it, Tokyo is a city with a plethora of entertainment options, both indoor and outdoor.
However you spent your Golden week, I hope you made the most of it. I hope the weather didn't get you down, and you rose above the clouds to make it one darn good holiday. Who knows, if we brush our teeth before we go to bed, recycle and clean behind our ears, Mother Nature may be proud of us and bless us with a real Golden week next year!
