This Friday's Videoasis promises to be an emotional rollercoaster for all and sundry. "Planes, trains and automobiles" stars 2 legendary Hollywood funnymen, Steve Martin and John Candy, in their primes. Back in the days when he was funny, Steve Martin was famous for his sharp one-liners. Back in the days when he was alive, John Candy was famous for his self-depreciating humour and general fatness.
The story revolves around the two annoying the bejesus out of each other, but gradually bonding as they overcome numerous humourous incidents and accidents, in their desperate struggles to get home for Thanksgiving.
This film has some truly memorable dialogue and sight-gags, along with a sad twist at the end that always gets me, yes me, manly macho man Jamo, crying (admittedly I've never watched the movie sober).
If you want to see a grown man cry, come along. If you want to make a grown man cry, don't.
