Louis Rams reportedly reached out to retired Brett Favre about NFL return

According to an ESPN report, St. Louis reached out to Brett Favre on Sunday night after learning that Bradford had suffered a season ending knee injury. 1 overall pick Sam Bradford to a season ending knee injury Sunday.

"It's flattering, but you know there's no way I'm going to do that," Favre told ESPN 570 Radio in Washington on Thursday.

Bradford, the first overall pick in the 2010 NFL draft out of Oklahoma, suffered a torn ACL in his left knee during Sunday's 30 15 loss to the Carolina Panthers.

With Favre making it clear he wasn't coming back, the Rams signed veteran QB Brady Quinn after reportedly having conversations about giving Tim Tebow a call. Quinn, the former Notre Dame signalcaller, was released by the Jets earlier this week.

Favre, who led the Packers to two Super Bowls including a win in Super Bowl XXXI and was a nine time Pro Bowler with the team, struggled to stay away from the game after initially hanging up his cleats after the 2007 season. He returned for a failed season with the Jets in 2008, before again returning to play two seasons with the Vikings.

"I had a great career. I think if anything, the last year that I played was an obvious writing on the wall, vision for you if you will," Favre said in the radio interview. "It was time."

Favre had a career resurgence at age 40 in Minnesota leading the Vikings to a 12 4 record in 2009. But a shoulder injury the following season ended his consecutive starts streak at 297. Favre said the 2010 injury helped him realize it was time to walk away for good.

The Rams reached out to Favre through his agent, Bus Cook, according to the ESPN report.

Another former Jets QB, Kellen Clemens, will start for the Rams on Monday night against the Seahawks.
