The Sri Lanka Sea Turtle Farm & Hatchery in Koggala, Sri Lanka, is one of the oldest turtle conservation facilities on the southern coast of Sri Lanka. They rescue turtle eggs that have been abandoned on the sand or that were about to be sold for food, hatch them in a safe place, and release them back into the sea. They also treat sea turtles that have been injured by becoming entangled in fishing nets or swallowing plastic. They protect green turtles, hawksbill turtles, olive ridley turtles, loggerhead turtles, and swan sharks. I had the chance to see the baby turtles that will be released tonight.
We set sail at 7:15 AM, sailed for 30 minutes, and encountered a humpback whale. 30 seconds after it dived deep, its song began to vibrate the bottom of the boat. As soon as we shut off the engine, the whale was on its stage. Its gigantic shadow projected on the fish finder and its mysterious singing voice captured on GoPro... We were simply overwhelmed by the skillful and beautiful performance of one of the world's largest mammals.

A vast grassland near Kirinda Beach in the Sri Lankayala region! Usually bustling with herds of water buffalo enjoying a dip, the area was silent on this day. The expected buffaloes were nowhere to be seen, and instead, there was a lone stray dog standing there all alone... An unexpectedly everyday scene in such vast nature... While feeling a bit disappointed and amused, I burned the contrast of the grassland into my memory and moved on to my next location. Oh my goodness🫣
