Heading into its fourth year, CrossVegas has become a fixture on the US cyclocross calendar attracting almost 10,000 spectators to the stadium-like setting of Desert Breeze Soccer Complex in Las Vegas. Highlights from the 2009 race included participation by three-time world champion Erwin Vervecken of Belgium. Vervecken finished with a strong fifth place in a race he termed “extremely fast and difficult.” The 2009 men's race was won by American Jamey Driscoll of the Cannondale-Cyclocrossworld.com team. The women's race was captured by American Katie Compton of the Planet Bike team. For the bicycle industry the battle for bragging rights takes place annually at CrossVegas in the “Wheelers & Dealers Race.” Starting off the evening's schedule, bicycle industry professionals compete against each other in 4 different categories.
