Synopsis
Following the loss of Shinpei's parents, he was a member of the Kofune family as well as their two daughters, Mio and Ushio. While he left the island of his birth to further his education in Tokyo Shinpei is back after Ushio's tragic drowning during the attempt to rescue an infant girl. In the wake of the ceremony, his most trusted friend informs him of bruises that were discovered around the neck of Ushio and casts doubt on the reason for her death. The suspicion is that a murder may have been committed, Shinpei examines the recent events, however, strange events continue to occur. People disappearing and other unprovoked incidents cause Mio to think of an old tale of entities referred to as "Shadows," which may not be completely real. According to legend, a meeting with the person's Shadow predicts one's impending end.
In the face of an unforgiving side to Hitogashima Island, Shinpei stands against the grim destiny he has been handed to fulfil Ushio's final wish of protecting Mio.
