Yesterdays visit to the nursery to find the perfect topiary tree was not a success. The success was discovering, that the right plant for the green pot, is at another nursery that we visited last week. That made us happy. We enjoyed a coffee and shared a cake. The next plan was the hardware store to buy paint. I have run out of the 4 litre tin of paint, that I have painted my downstairs balustrade and front doors with and need more to finish the upstairs balustrade and then complete a second coat as well. I have chosen a blue paint, the same colour as my hydrangea flowers. The hardware store also had a small nursery; no suitable topiary trees but I did buy an olive tree that I want to espalier against a brick wall. Next stop was food shopping and a few other small chores. We found a good parking spot and with our shopping complete Mika showed me a place to buy good sushi. She said it wasn't authentic because they don't keep it simple enough and use too many flavours but it was still really yummy.
We had great conversation about making good choices in life and our desire to be obedient to God, by not choosing to follow the human desire in conflict, but to choose the opposite spirit of forgiveness and love. For example, it takes a lot more strength and courage to stand against emotions of pride, anger, jealousy, impatience, judgment and resentment. Practicing obedience to Gods word, teaches us and moulds our character, leading to wisdom, knowledge and understanding which is more precious than rubies and of greater worth than gold. Good overcomes evil.
