It's been awhile. I have been very busy doing my work. But I think I can finally take a breath in. Oh jeez, I don't want to live like this until I turn 60.

I miss America... It is my second homeland. If you live alone there for 10 years, your attachment to the country gets very strong. I used to live in many states,,, Wisconsin, Iowa, Pennsylvania, New York, Oregon... I miss all of them. Each state has its own distinct character. You may think that there is no difference between Iowa and Wisconsin, but there is a visible difference.
It seemed that there are more northern European people like Germans and Scandinavians living in Wisconsin than in Iowa. They have more visible Scandinavian culture. Minnesota and Wisconsin are pretty close in that respect.
Oregon was good place too. I have never seen such untouched nature in my life. Picturesque scenery was everywhere. Very nice.
I am depressed not because I am in Japan though. I like Japan too.

After coming back to Japan I kinda got a feeling that Japanese people aren't really what I thought they are. They seem colder and more aloof to others. They don't want to involve with other people, and they want to keep distance when someone needs help. They sometimes exhibit explicit distrust to others. I wouldn't say they are kind. When and why did they become such a pathetic pussy? Or is it just my illusion?
It is harder for me to understand Japanese than I do Americans sometimes. I gotta say that Japanese in general care too much about appearance and surface looks. That is all they care about, and that is all they can (or want to) see. They live nervously by worrying about other people's eyes. They care so much about not to look dumb, ugly or shameful, but it seems that their attitude itself makes them look even dumber. I think the reason why many Japanese are afraid of speaking English is because they don't want to be embarrassed, or they want to stay looking cool. If you are afraid of speaking English, your English will never improve.
The reason why I was able to acquire the perfect command in English is because I am bold and shameless. I didn't give a damn about how stupid my English sounded to Americans. I used to debate and quarrel with Americans a lot, and most of the time I wan. I even wan at a court without an attorney. Can you do that in English?
