An autosomal metabolic disorder – Pompe disease results in deterioration of organs and tissues as a consequence of excess accumulation of glycogen in muscle and nerve cells throughout the body. 

 

Also called Glycogen Storage disease type II, Pompe disease affects around 5,000 to 10,000 people worldwide, with an equal preponderance in Males and females.
