Today was an interesting day. I felt the fustration of a foreigner in Japan today for the first time in a while.
I went to the City Hall in my area today to get an INKAN shoumei shou.
I left my inkan card in Tokyo so my father in Law went to my home to get the card and send it to me.
There are times when it is hard to understand certain things in Japan and this is definitely one of them.
I can clearly prove with my Passport, my Gaijin card, etc.,.. my identity,
but they will not give me a Inkan Shoumei
sho without the card... It is the way things are, so I just roll with the punches.
After a long day of running around to Umeda school meeting with our architect for the New Honmachi school
and meeting with staff I finished off the day with 2 lessons at 7 and 8pm with two really great students.
A nice way to close out a long but satisfying day. I am always energized and encouraged by our students
who work so hard to improve their language skills.
今日は興味深い1日でした。
久しぶりに日本で働く外国人としてフラストレーションを感じました。
大阪の某役所に印鑑証明書を取りに行ったのですが、
印鑑証明カードを東京においてきてしまいました。
東京にいる義理の父に頼み、自宅まで取りに行ってもらい、宅急便で至急送ってもらう手続きをしてもらいました。
日本にいるとたまにどうしても理解できないことがあり、今日起きたことはまさにそう感じる出来事でした。
なぜなら、パスポートや外国人証明カードで自分を証明することができるはずなのに、
日本のお役所は断固として、印鑑証明書を発行してくれない。。。
だけど僕は何もできないから、従うしかないけど。。
今日は梅田校で設計事務所と新しくできる本町校についての会議、
そして梅田校スタッフとの会議など、
長い会議、そして”お役所事件”で疲れ気味の私でしたが、
夜受け持った二つのレッスンがとても楽しく、
最終的にいい一日として締めくくることが出来ました。
いつも、生徒さんたちの
「自分の語学力を伸ばしたい！」、
という真摯で一生懸命な姿勢に
もっともっと頑張らないと！
と喝を入れられている、日本に住む、アメリカ人社長でした。。
