Reports are that the Denver Broncos plan to trade or cut DJ WIlliams. Williams would count for $8 million against Denver's cap next year but is not guaranteed any of it so whether they trade or cut him it would free up $6 million of space. Williams was a first round pick in the 2004 draft, from 2007-2011 Williams was probably the best defensive player that did not make the pro bowl, but in 2012 he was suspended for the first 9 games for 2 separate infractions.
It is clear Denver does not want to deal with DJ's off the field problems and they also don't want to pay all that money for an aging line backer that averaged 20 snaps a game last year and has so many off the field problems. Williams will definitely be able to start somewhere, but I don't think many teams will want to pay him the $6 million. As a Bronco fan, this is somewhat disheartening news because DJ had always been an asset for our defense. However, last year showed he has now become a liability. It will be sad to see DJ go, but it must be done.
