After I broke my final E2000 , I felt lost because I can no longer enjoy portable audio outdoors as E2000 was my only earphone (IEM) to-go.
During the time without any earphones I can use, I was thinking of upgrading my earphone which sounds neutral yet clear and detailed (my sound preference). Price also plays important role as I couldn't afford an IEM above my budget. As I was searching, I found FitEar EST Universal suits my liking. It sounds smooth and feels airy or open sounding. However, its expensive for me and its housing shell is a little too big for my ears. ![]()
Not long after, I visited another headphone store and on the table I saw a pair of FitEar fitear and a FitEar Universal. I was excited because it's my first time looking at both pair of FitEar earphones. (Note: FitEar fitear & FitEar Universal is not available in Indonesia)
I asked to a staff about how those pair of FitEar IEMs made it to the store and I was told that a FitEar collector is retiring so he sold his pairs of FitEar IEMs. Immediately, I tried on the FitEar Universal because I have been looking for it as a candidate to replace and add to my setup. I also tried FitEar fitear as well. My initial impression was that FitEar Universal sounds too flat but has sparkly highs / treble while FitEar fitear sounds thick and bassy.
Until my last encounter with the FitEar Universal was the time I found out that it sounds flat to me because I had an improper fitting with the earphones itself. After having a proper fit, I found it's sound signature suits my liking. It still sounds neutral and a little flat for some people, however this time its sound has sense of dynamic and also sounds very articulate (and fast). From there, I have decided to acquire FitEar Universal as my replacement and upgrade IEM.
When I inquired about the FitEar Universal I've previously tried and heard, I was told that both FitEar earphones are sent back to the owner as it wasn't sold for a month since it arrived at the headphone store. However, I was informed that they could help communicate and negotiate the selling price with the owner and if I was ever interested to buy that pair.
I decided to eventually look for FitEar Universal somewhere else as I felt that price negotiation will not get through with the owner. Fortunately, I saw an offer of FitEar Universal with FitEar cable 007 (which are sold exclusively on ヨドバシ) on ヤフオク! for ¥ 50000. Not only with 007 cable, it also came with Pelican 1010 micro case and included accessories are intact. Bonus eartips are also given. Before the offer ended, I contacted an acquaintance who is a proxy to help me process the purchase and made a deal. I was promised 2 weeks of waiting time until item arrived.
Two weeks later, I got to pick up my item and brought it home with the feeling of excitement flowing through me.![]()

The white eartips equipped are not the bonus included from the Yahoo auction seller. It's a L-sized Ortofon eartips I bought online.Back then, I found that the fitting with the Ortofon eartips are better (it isolates better) than stock eartips.

As I was writing this post, I was listening to my music with FitEar Universal using TEAC HA-P90SD DAC connected to my PC. I'm also used to the fitting with stock M-size eartips. Sometime before writing this post, I lost 4 pairs of eartips (final E-type eartips (S & M), Acoustune AET07 (M), and the Ortofon eartips (L) I mentioned) .But I bought another Ortofon eartips, this time in M-size because I find the M has better fit after getting used to the fitting of the IEM.
With having these pair of IEM, I don't think I will look for an upgrade soon as I'm very satisfied with these earphones.![]()
