『To bee or not to bee.』

　人生には忘れられない一幕があるという。これは私にとってのその一幕。10代前半のまだとても若かった頃、私は時折遠くに住んでいた名付け親マーサ・アンの家を時折訪ねていた。彼女の家に遊びに行くのはいつも楽しかった記憶がある。その息子のマイケルと娘のカレンはいつも良くしてくれて、楽しい思い出がつまった場所。私は彼らより年下だったので、彼らをまるで本当の姉や兄の様に慕っていた。近所の子達も交えて、アクションフィギュアやカード、屋外でありとあらゆるゲームをしてなどして遊んでいた。森での楽しかった思い出も沢山あって、言いだしたらキリがない程。まったく、もう一度子供の頃に戻りたいものだ。正直、自分の歳に関わらず、楽しむことは誰にも邪魔させるつもりはないけど！アイスクリーム売りのトラックを見かけたら勿論追いかける！雪が降ったら、雪すべりをするし、雪だるまを作るし、中で遊べる様な大ーきなかまくらを作るんだ！だって、楽しいって感覚を持たずして、生きてる意味がないだろう？思うに、今自分と同世代の人々は、心から本気で楽しむっていう方法を忘れてしまったんじゃないかと思う。自分はお酒も飲まなければタバコも吸わないし、ドラッグもやらない。だってそんなものの助け無しでも、気分はいつも人生の最高潮だから。ナイトクラブに行く時は純粋にダンスを踊りにいくし、それは心からダンスと音楽を愛しているから。楽しい時間を過ごす為に酔っ払う必要も無い。実際、友達の付き合いで酒を飲ませられる事もあるが、翌日の気分の悪さと言ったら最悪で、自分はそれが凄く好きじゃない。お腹が痛くなるし。基本的に、いつもただダンスを踊って歌を歌って、そしてそれで楽しい時間を過ごしたいだけ。
　They say some moments in life are unforgettable. This was one of those moments. When I was young during my pre-teens I used to visit my Godmothers house named Martha Anne who lived out in the country. It was always so much fun going to her house. My God brother Michael and God sister Karen always treated me really good and I always had so much fun there. I was younger than them so I kinda looked up to them like my big sister and brother. We played with action figures and card games and best of all , we played all sorts of outdoor games with other kids from the neighborhood. I can't begin to tell you all the great times we had playing in the woods! Damn I wish I was a kid again. Honestly , I really don't care how old I am though because I am not EVER going to let anything get in the way of my fun! If I see the ice cream truck, I'm chasing it down. When I see snow I am sledding, building a snowman, and a great big igloo that I can play inside of. I mean, whats the point of being alive if you don't have fun right? These things are fun for me. I just think other people my age have forgotten how to REALLY have fun! I don't drink or smoke and I don't do drugs because I am always high on life. When I go to a club I really just dance because I love music and dancing. I don't need to be drunk to have a good time. Actually when my friends get me drunk I always feel terrible the next day and I really don't like it. It makes my stomach hurt. I just want to dance and sing and have fun.

　まあまあ、本題に戻ろうか。
　Anyway, lets get back to the story.

　ある日、私とマイケルは庭でキャッチボールをしていて、私がボールをとり損ねた時のこと。マイケルが投げたボールが私の頭上を超えて茂みの中に入ってしまい、ボールを取りに走った。最初は気づかなかったのだが、突然、腕の上に何かが止まっているのに気づいた……蜂だ！！パニックに陥ると、蜂を腕から払い落とそうとしたが、すると次から次へと蜂が現れ、すぐに周りを取り囲まれた。蜂の巣にはまってしまったのだ！！！数秒も経たない内に、その怒り狂った蜂達が私の体中のあらゆる場所を刺し始め、私は叫び声を上げていた。茂みから抜け出すと、恐怖に怯えながら助けを求めて叫んだ。マイケル達がバケツ一杯の水を持ってきて私に浴びせ、それが功を成して蜂は逃げ飛び立ったが、時すでに遅し。私は既に蜂にさせれていた状態だった。その時の私の姿と言ったら、肌一面を蜂に刺されて赤く膨んだ、歩く蜂用の針刺しの様だった。死ななかったのが奇跡的な程だ。とにかく、これが今日のお話。ハッピーエンドと呼べるのかはわからないけど、まだこの世に生きてるって事はきっとそういうことだろうね。
　So, one day, me and Michael were playing catch out in the yard and I miss the ball. It goes over my head into the woods and I run in to retrieve it. I didn't see it at first so I kept wandering in and I suddenly felt something laying on my arm. It was a bee! I panicked and tried to shake it off but then there was another and then another and soon they were all around me. I STEPPED IN A NEST!!!! Within seconds I was screaming and covered with pissed off bees stinging me anyplace they could find. I ran out of the woods in horror yelling help. Thank God that they came out with a bucket of water and threw it on me. It scared the bees away but they had already gotten me, and oh but good! I was like a walking bee stinger cushion with red bumps all over my skin. That sucked! It's amazing that I didn't die. Anyway that's my story for today. I don't know if you can call that a happy ending but since I'm still alive I guess it is.

　蜂の巣に踏み入れる事はTO DO LIST（しなきゃいけない事リスト）に入れたい様なことじゃないけど、今となってみれば名付け親とその家族・友達と過ごせた楽しい時間の事を考えると、きっとそんな事件に遭遇しても良かったかなと思える程、素晴らしい思い出の一幕。
　Yes stepping in a bees nest is really not something you want to put on your to do list but the good times I had there were worth all of those stings I guess looking back now.
