『Teaching at Johnny's Jr.』

　初めて日本に来た時、J-POPを始めとする日本のメディア事業に関しての知識が皆無だった。ナイトクラブで踊っていると、私のダンスをとても気に入ったと、ある男性に声をかけられた。彼は、友人にジャニー喜多川という人物がいるので、私に彼に紹介したいと言ってくれた。その後直ぐにジャニー喜多川に会う事となったが、その時の彼の印象は、それまで私が日本で会った中でも、群を抜いて最高にイカした人物だなといったもの。彼はとても親切で、すぐさま私が彼の抱えてるアーティスト（ジャニーズJr.）へダンス指導をするという話になった。
彼の自宅はとっても…クレイジーだった。まるで宮殿の様なところで、その時そこには彼の事務所のスタッフや所属アーティストの数名がいた。彼のプロデュースしたミュージカルの幾つかをビデオで観せてもらったが、TV上で観たにも関わらず、とても素晴らしい作品だった。途端に彼の壮麗な世界観に引き込まれた。しかし最も興味深い事実は、誰もが彼のプロデュースするジャニーズグループアーティストを知っているのに、ジャニー喜多川、彼本人の素顔が浸透していない事だった。例えば、彼に連れられてレストランに食事に行ったりしても、周囲の誰もが彼がジャニー喜多川である事実に気づかないという事。これが私が彼をより尊敬した理由の一つでもある。
　When I came to Japan I had no idea about J Pop or Japanese mainstream media. I was performing at local clubs and I met one guy who really liked my dancing. He told me about this person named Johnny Kitagawa who was a friend of his. He told me that he would introduce me to him. One day soon after, I met Johnny and he was just the coolest dude I had ever met in Japan. He was very kind and we spoke about how I could help out teaching the kids (Johnny's Jr.). 
His house was crazy. It was like a palace and he had some other staff and a few of the kids over as well. We watched one of the musicals he produced. It was amazing seeing that for the first time, even on video. I instantly became absorbed into the fantastic world of Johnny's. The most interesting thing is that although millions of people know his groups, most people have no idea what he looks like. There were times when Johnny would take me to a public restaurant and absolutely no one would know it was him. This made me respect him even more. 

　そして私はジャニーズJr.のメインダンス監督の一人となり、グループメンバー達が嵐やKAT-TUNなどのグループとして、とても有名になっていくのを見送ってきた。
　彼らは皆仕事を共にするのにとても楽しい子達で、ダンスレッスンを通してもいつも素晴らしい時間を共に出来た。ジャニー喜多川がオーディションを開催するサポートをしに、またTV番組の出演などで、彼と共に大阪に行き来をする機会が度々あった。大阪から東京に戻る途中、京都で公演となっていたジャニーズ・ミュージカルを観に立ち寄った事もあったが、その舞台はこれまで見たことの無い程、非常に優れた作品の一つだった。
　I became one of the main teachers for Johnny's Jr and for many years I worked with several of the members of the groups that are really famous now including Kat-tun, Arashi, etc… 
They were all so fun to work with and we always had a great time at the lessons. I even had a chance to go to Osaka with Johnny a couple of times to help him run auditions and to work on a TV show. On our way back to Tokyo we stopped to see a Johnny's musical in Kyoto and it was one of the most incredible things I had ever seen. 

　ジャニー喜多川という人物、彼は本当に天才だと思う。そして比類のないビジネスマン。彼こそが私が日本でのキャリアを形成するにあたって最も尽力してくれた人物であって、そして彼の素晴らしい作品の制作の一部に私を迎え入れてくれた事、永遠に心から感謝し続けます。
　He is truly a genius and a great business man. He is also the person who helped me the most and started my career here and I will be forever grateful to him for taking me in and giving me a chance to be a part of his amazing creation.
