Asking for directions #2:
PLACEMENT
Just as objects are placed
in a specific space,
in relation to other items,
so are buildings and locations.
Check out this video about placement:
Sounds simple right?
Now back to directions.
In some areas in Japan mainly
the big streets have names and numbers.
Some housing districts lack names.
it's more like giving row numbers or maybe
letters and house numbers.
In most Western Countries every road,
street, avenue and alley has
it's specific name and the houses
and buildings their specific main number
and sometimes secondary numbers.
They aren't as chaotic as it first seems
when you get to a new and unfamiliar place.
For a faster understanding of placements

『PREPOSITIONS OF PLACE』

Here's to give you an idea about what
street blocks are:
To get to number 1 in a direct route
one could give you the following directions:
"Cross Alexander Avenue and after two blocks turn right, straight ahead to Baker's Street and there it is, across the street."
『アレクサンダー·アベニューを渡ると2ブロックあとで右に曲がる、直進ベーカー·ストリートへそしてあそこです、通りの向こう側。』
So basically a block is a parcel of land
surrounded by streets on all 4 sides.
Hope this was somewhat useful.
Till next time--! Bye Bye!
