[ 2nd Generation Kindle ]
So finally, the Kindle by Amazon is now on sale in Japan!!! Ever since I laid my eyes on this device, I could not help but hoping to get in Japan very soon. On October 2009 Amazon.co.jp front page started to introduce this device officially. Although the top page is written in Japanese, it will be forwarded to Amazon.com to purchase.
When I made my purchase in late October, the device was of course delievered from Amazon.com. Even before I receive the device I started purchasing kindle books from Amazon.com. It is a very good strategy. There are also free books available for you to download. And many of them are less expensive compared to paper books. Besides, we do not have to pay for the shipping fee. Even better!
[ What is so good about Kindle? ]
I don't know exactly what kind of technologies they are using for this special screen, but as the promotion
video says, I can read the text without any problems under the SUN! The display does not reflect as usual monitors do. And the individual letter looks as if it is printed on this plastic surface! WoW!
Also, what I love the most is "Text to read" function of the device. Although Amazon claims that this is still experimental, but male/female selectable will read the book out for you. This is super cool! When I showed it off to my friends at work, my best-bud also purchased this and we became Kindle-Buddies.
[ Things need to be improved... ]
Some features what they call "Experimental..." will be enhanced sooner or later. But what we immediately need is that the suppliers to start shipping outside of continental U.S. For example, some Kindle Accessaries such as additional battery charger, USB cable, or just simply "Cover" of Kindle cannot be deliverabled to any location outside of U.S. This does not make sense! Since Japan is not the only country that Amazon has started selling Kindle, they need to encourage suppliers to ship internationally. We'll see how well and how soon they meet the customer demand.
