After four years teaching and coaching baseball at Del Oro High, Bret Lachemann could not resist the opportunity to be on the diamond full time.
Lachemann resigned recently to accept a position as pitching coach for the Cal Poly Pomona baseball team. The son of former Angels manager Marcel Lachemann and nephew of longtime Major League player and manager Rene Lachemann, Bret graduated from Cal Poly Pomona, where he was a star pitcher.
At Del Oro, Lachemann led the Golden Eagles to a 57 55 1 record over four seasons. In 2008, Del Oro played in just its second Sac Joaquin Section championship game, falling to Ponderosa 3 www.broncosofficialnflproshop.com/59+Danny+Trevathan+Jersey+Cheap.html 2. The Eagles made the section semifinals in 2009.
"This was Demaryius Thomas Super Bowl Jersey my first head coaching opportunity and I was fortunate to have some really Demaryius Thomas Jersey Womens good players," Lachemann said. "We made the finals in '08 and the semifinals in '09, but even when we didn't make the playoffs, we were in it until the last week of the season. I just really enjoyed my time here. I'll miss the students at Del Oro as much as anything."
The Broncos compete at the NCAA Division II level in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
"The opportunity to just coach baseball presented itself and it's a dream to put all my energy every day into coaching," Lachemann said. "And at Cal Poly Pomona I had a chance to play for a great coach named John Scolinos, so it's a special place for me."
