Heidi Klum is a McDonalds mama

A happy marriage, four beautiful kids, a successful career and a runway ready post baby body: Sometimes model mom Heidi Klum seems a bit too perfect. So it nice to hear that even she caves to the call of a happy meal from time to time.

once in a while, my kids have McDonald the Project Runway host tells E!. can have a Big Mac sometimes. There nothing wrong with that.

But wait, there more: Heidi, who has kids Leni, 5, Henry, 4, Johan, 3, and Lou, 5 months, with her husband Seal, admits that even she indulges in fast food sometimes, saying, do love a Big Mac with fries and barbecue sauce every once in a while.

How often does your family have fast food?

We eat fast food far more than I would like. Probably twice a week. I work a very hectic schedule 6 pm 6 am and those days it is nearly impossible for me to cook. Fortunately none of us are overweight and we all get plenty of exercise. When picking up something from a fast food rest. I always try to choose some of the healthier options. Apple slices instead of fries, milk instead of soda, salad or grilled chicken vs. a burger. My children love fruits and veggies and eat a variety of foods. I try to reinforce good habits but fast food has certainly been a busy mom lifesaver more than once.

I am truly stunned when other moms of toddlers talk about going to McD I can understand if your kid is 10 and wants to go with their friends, but a 3 year old?! Sorry, that just lazy parenting. My 2 year has no idea what McD is and thinks are the ones mommy makes in the oven with sweet potato. Takes me all of 30 minutes. I know I can shelter him forever, but since I control 100% of what he eats until he about 5 years old, I be darned if I going to let him get addicted to garbage this early.

I have nothing against quality fast food (like Five Guys) but after watching SuperSize Me, I will NEVER eat at McDonald Burger King, etc again. That movie made me realize that it not food much worse it chemicals and byproducts made to seem like edible substances. Think that extreme? Why should a strawberry milkshake have over 30 ingredients? And not one of them is real strawberries?! And the hamburger meat me shutter. I never touch what they call beef, sickening, literally.

We eat McDonald maybe 2 times a week. I love the Grilled Chicken Club the calories add up fast on that one so I usually just go with the regular Grilled Chicken. We get a large fry and a large drink and share it ( We never finish it ). My son and daughter gets a double cheese burger and share it. My son and daughter are perfectly healthy and even on the light side. I have a degenerative medical condition that causes me a lot of pain on a daily basis. I do not feel like a lazy Mom and my son is 3 and my daughter is 18 months. If I ever felt like it is causing them to be unhealthy I would stop. It works for us and we enjoy it.

I think it is funny when moms feel that making Hamburger helper is healthier than McDonalds. We buy healthy foods at home so I dont feel bad about a small not so healthy meal 2 times a week.

Now that said. My sisters family eats only at home and she cooks very healthy. Her 3 year old is very overweight. A recent study said that a child will most often maintain that weight level for life if they are heavy when they are 3. It just goes to show that everything in moderation is good. If any of my children shows any signs of abnormal weight gain I would stop McDonalds in a secant.

I vegetarian and don eat fast food because I don trust the darn cross contamination issue. However, my LO and DH are not vegetarian, and do eat fast food from time to time, and my DS is 17 months old. He knows fries, in fact, he says it when we pass a Chik Fil A! But he doesn get them often, not even every week. I not going to judge any mom for what they feed their kid. I mean, some cultures believe in eating and feeding their children raw meat and things like maggots and gerbils, so really, McD isn that bad LOL. Anyways, I don know any of these mothers circumstances enough to call them lazy. I don know the situation they are in, their schedule, their finances, their physical mobility ,or their beliefs. And while McDonalds may not be healthy, unless you eating your veggies from your own garden, most food isn healthy, but McDonald food has a long way to go to be considered garbage. I a social worker and I have seen kids rummage through trash cans and literally eat garbage, and I can tell you it not what you get in that little paper sack at McDonalds. I do research professionally, and can tell you that the circumstances in the conducted in Supersize Me (while disturbing) is far from what would be considered valid empirically sound evidence. So, basically, what I trying to convey here is that you should take other opinions with a grain of salf and that personally I believe that most moms that take the time to come on babycenter and learn and educate themselves, and get opinions from other moms, are probably well intending decent mothers, and we shouldn be so quick to judge why a mom feeds her children what she does, and since we don know each other personally, it would be nice to relate to each other without inflammatory language.

No, it isn the end of the world, but it not the best you can do either. I can serve frozen microwave meals to my family every night like my mom did, and claim I too busy, or I can take the health of my family seriously. Of course junk food tastes good, because it chemcially processed to be that way!

Andrea, sorry about your illness, but why not then make the effort to seek out the best nutrition possible? Do you think full of chemical additives, totally overprocessed to the point of being nutrient devoid is going to help? And your kids 18 months eating fries and soda, seriously? don finish it well it doesn matter because you already created the taste for it, and likely, a later addiction. I was seriously addicted to Coca Cola for years until I found out it was leaching calcium out of my bones. Even then it took me about 3 more years to fulling wean myself off of it.

By the way, weight is only one aspect of being healthy there are lots of really aweful food that you can eat and still look thin even though on the inside things might not be so pretty. It about training palates at an early age, because kids will crave those same foods they ate when they were under 3. Btw, those people who eat maggots and raw meat are actually MUCH healthier and don get degenerative diseases because at least their food is healthy too! (you can say that about the confinement cows McD sources that sit in feces all day and eat GMO corn and other ground up diseased cows.)

I have gone through stints where we eat out every week to stints where we don see a fast food resturant for 3 4 months. It goes in cycles.

I currently 36 weeks pregnant and I wish we went out to eat more often but sometimes just getting in the car to drive to a fast food place is more trouble than its worth. Then we all just eat sandwiches. I say eating sandwiches for dinner is even more lazy than actually getting in the car to drive somewhere!

I agree with many of you who have posted 23isback release dates Its vital to teach kids that indulgence is okay as long as it is only occasionally. If we don then the moment they start earning their own money they be indulging in things we rather them not!
