Individuals who like a lie-in may now have an excuse - it can be at least partly started with their genes, according to experts.Health experts, who analyzed over 10,000 men and women across Countries in europe, observed people with the gene ABCC9 need to have around 30 minutes more sleep per day compared to those without the gene.And that gene is carried by 1 in 5 Europeans.
The experts said the finding could seriously help explain "sleep behaviour".Over 10,thousand people took part, each filing how long they slept and providing a blood sample for DNA research.When the researchers from the University of Edinburgh and Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich analyzed these figures with the results of the genetic review, they found individuals with a variation of a gene called ABCC9 required more sleep than the eight-hour average.
The investigation above starts up a new kind of researching in sleep studies, and it is hoped that future work might figure out how this gene variant regulates how long people sleep.
