明けましておめでとう!Happy new year!
It's been 11 long days since my last entry... I guess it's a pretty bad start, considering that I was supposed to write something daily :-/
My progression was not as good as expected: to this day I learnt 700 kanjis...
According to my initial objectives, right now, I should be around 870. Well I guess, I will have to work a little more in the coming days!
Maybe I was a little bit too optimistic when I decided to learn 30 kanjis per day?
What took me so long?
First of all, it was the end of the year and I have been quite busy and had not so much time nor motivation to learn kanjis for a few days!
The other big problem was about revisions. Learning 30 kanjis is not so hard with the book "Remembering the kanjis". But on a long period of time, it is important to review them regularly. As every day, there is a growing number to revise, some organization is needed!
At the beginning, additionally to the kanjis learning, I spent quite a lot of time reviewing what I previously studied. That's why, I started to get some interest on the Leitner method.
What is it exactly?
It is a learning method generally used with flashcards. There is 5 groups according to how well you know them. First, you start to review cards from group 1. If you know a flashcard, you move it to level 2, if you don't you stay at level 1. You can move up to level 5. Each time you fail on a card, you should send it back to level 1. In a few time, you should obtain a set of 5 groups, according to how well you know the cards.
Groups are reviewed on a regular interval of time. For example, group 1 is reviewed every day, group 2 every 2 days, etc....
I started to apply this method with an iOS application (kanji LS) both for writing and learning.
I think, I will have to proceed in a few adjustment because it is very time consuming.
