There was some white powder on the kujo green onions. I thought it was some sort of fungus at first but it easily washed away. Apparently, it's called 'bloom' that the green onions produces to protect itself from rain, frost and diseases or prevent it from drying out. It's completely harmless according to Wikipedia. You'll hardly ever see vegetables with 'bloom' sold in a supermarket because most of them are cultivated not to produce it.
